Another recognition for Animalia Humanitas.

The series has received a Silver Award at the 2026 European Photo Awards, in the Fine Art Photography - Pets category.

Animalia Humanitas has collected quite a few international awards by now, and I’m very grateful to see the work continuing to find its way to juries around the world. But for me, the most exciting part is that the series is still very much a work in progress.

One of the photographs in this awarded selection was created earlier this year in South Africa. A first step in taking the project beyond the animals I’ve photographed closer to home.

And there is more to come. I’ll be adding new portraits to the series this autumn, continuing my search for animals with a strong presence, an unusual appearance or simply a face that deserves a portrait of its own.

AMORPHIS at Alcatraz.

Yesterday brought another memorable moment for HEAVY. I had the opportunity to sit down with Tomi Joutsen of Amorphis for an interview and portrait. Later that night I photographed their show at Alcatraz.

For more than three decades, Amorphis has built a remarkable legacy by combining power, melancholy and hope into something uniquely their own. Those themes are precisely what make artists like Tomi such a valuable part of this project.

As always, the performance was nothing short of impressive.

MANTAH at Alcatraz.

Two of the band's members are also taking part in HEAVY, my ongoing project exploring mental health and su***de prevention within the rock and metal scene.

One of the things I enjoy most about this project is seeing artists in different contexts: in a quiet environment while creating their portraits, and later on in their natural habitat, right in the middle of the noise, sweat and energy of a live performance.

IGORRR at Alcatraz.

I had the chance to photograph Igorrr and the rest of the band once again at Alcatraz.

Gautier is also part of HEAVY, my ongoing project focusing on mental health and su***de prevention within the rock and metal community, and it was a pleasure to see him bringing that same intensity and creativity to the stage.

IGORRR has always occupied a world of its own, blending aggression, beauty, chaos and precision into something that defies categories. Capturing that energy through a camera is always a challenge, but that's exactly what makes it so rewarding.

I first met Joel and Martin through HEAVY, my project exploring mental health and su***de prevention within the rock and metal scene. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to photograph them on stage once again, and they proved exactly why they have earned the respect of so many people around the world.

Powerful, emotional and utterly captivating from beginning to end.
