I proudly participated yesterday in the vigil organised by ,  and  in Brussels.

The occasion was to raise awareness about animal testing to sell cosmetics, but the EU already has laws preventing such practices. Unfortunately, there are EU authorities asking to re-engage in animal testing to sell cosmetics, and it is our opportunity to raise our voice as citizens and sign the European Citizens Initiative to prevent such unnecessary, cruel and outdated practices to happen again.

How to vote? Google European Citizens Initiative cosmetics, and you will find it.

The Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2019 was an award ceremony I visually covered with my photography last year at the Vaudeville Theatre in Brussels.⁠
⁠
Here you can see some of the pictures of the event. This event was the continuation of the previous conference I shared some days ago. ⁠
⁠
Award ceremonies in venues like this are very challenging mainly because of the light on stage. They normally use spotlights that create strong shadows and the audience normally has dim lights, which is totally the opposite. I have to constantly adapt my camera settings to document both areas and not miss anything.⁠

When I started my photography business, it was unclear to me which type of photography I wanted to do. I would be open to all possibilities and didn’t reject any opportunity. However, the more clients I started getting, the more I realized how much I enjoyed photographing corporate event photography, the more I refused other types of work, and in consequence, the better I got at it.⁠

I am back after some weeks of inactivity. My little one was born 4 weeks ago today, and I have been an almost full-time father so far.

In any case, I wanted to share with you some of the pictures I took last year during the EU Road Safety Exchange conference that took place at the Thon Hotel EU in Brussels. It was a very interesting conference discussing the future of road safety in Europe. Once again, I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to witness and document this type of event.

As the night begins to end, more and more people start dancing without inhibition.⁠

It is always great catching these lovely fleeting moments of joy in festivals and celebrations such as this. ⁠

The 2019 Oktoberfest Brüssel was a nice reminder of my visits to the Munich Oktoberfest, and I am very grateful I had the chance to take pictures in Brussels of the same celebration.⁠

Towards the end of the evening, people relax more as they drink more alcohol. Many people start talking to strangers for the first time and many start dancing to the sounds of music.⁠

These moments towards the end of the night brings many photo opportunities for photographers. You have to be quick and snap those moments before they vanish. They represent how people are having fun during the celebration.⁠

A group of guests holds proudly the Bavarian gingerbread heart during the 2019 Oktoberfest Brüssel.⁠

I remember in Munich people would carry them around and gladly buy them during the Oktoberfest there. Have you eaten one of these gingerbread cookies? I sure have not.⁠

I have been to the Oktoberfest in Munich several times, but I never saw the queens there. Lucky me I was the designated photographer for this occasion!⁠

Musicians enter the main tent and head to the stage to officially open the 2019 Oktoberfest Brüssel. Traditional folk music reigns and everybody has fun being nostalgic about their country's traditions.⁠

Taking pictures of musicians walking is no easy task, especially when you have to walk backward to get the photos. I am happy I managed to snap this one well though.⁠

Last year I covered a smaller version of the largest folk festival in the world, the Oktoberfest.⁠
⁠
The Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union organized the Oktoberfest Brüssel at around the same date the Munich Oktoberfest occurs.⁠
⁠
Here, you can see the main tent, looking like the real deal, moments after it started. You can indeed see the guests raising their glasses for the first time in the evening.⁠
