Bach — Second Movement. 🎻

This time, I’m playing on the extraordinary Stradivari “ex De Ahna”, a violin with a remarkable history and a voice of extraordinary depth and warmth.

Bach’s music has a way of making time disappear — just the violin, the sound, and the music itself.

Bach, BWV 1042 — a sound that carries history.

The 3rd movement of Bach’s Violin Concerto in E Major, BWV 1042, performed by Sean Avram Carpenter on the extraordinary 1683 “De Ahna” Antonio Stradivari.

When Bach composed this concerto around 1720, this violin was already nearly 40 years old — an “antique” instrument in Bach’s own time.

More than three centuries later, its voice still speaks.

For Sean, performing on historical instruments is not simply about playing an extraordinary violin. It is about creating a direct connection between the music, the instrument, and the generations of musicians who came before us.

Alongside Sean forthcoming major recording projects with Maestro Dirk Brossé and orchestra, Sean is proud to introduce another important pillar of his artistic journey: a recital partnership with the exceptional pianist Kristina Miller.

A project united by a shared musical vision and remarkable artistic chemistry, they present programs that combine the timeless masterpieces of Mozart and Franck with the brilliance of Sibelius, Kreisler, Sarasate, and Paganini.

This recital duo is one of the key projects for the coming seasons, complementing Sean’s orchestral collaborations while celebrating the intimacy, elegance, and virtuosity of the violin–piano repertoire. For more information contact us!

There are pieces that transcend the notes on the page.

For me, Estrellita by Manuel Ponce, in the legendary arrangement by Jascha Heifetz, is one of them.

If I could choose just one work to pay tribute to the greatest violinist who ever lived, this would be it as much as my next major recording. Heifetz's artistry has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my musical journey, reminding me that true virtuosity is never about brilliance alone—it is about elegance, sincerity, and the ability to make every note sing.

It is a privilege to perform this timeless masterpiece on my beloved 1731 Guarneri del Gesù "ex-Stanley Goodman", regarded as a sister instrument to the celebrated Ex-Fritz Kreisler. Crafted in Cremona nearly three centuries ago, this extraordinary violin carries with it not only an unforgettable voice but also the legacy of the Golden Age of violin playing.

I hope this performance conveys a small part of the admiration, gratitude, and respect I feel for Jascha Heifetz and for the enduring tradition that continues to inspire generations of musicians.
