Dear friends,

For those who haven't heard the news yet, I've been pretty fortunate to be chosen by Vice for a unique collab with Arte in an effort to support some of your local artists during these rough times.

The idea of the collaboration is to make tshirts with the artwork of artists that have been featured on vice this year, and sell them to make up for the loss of income during the Corona lockdown.

All of the shirts look really nice, and I'm very grateful for being able to be a part of this wonderful project. I know that not all of you might be able to afford this right now, but here is a small article of all the artists. It's pretty interesting.

Together with the people, cattle was being sheltered as well.
In the Saptari district, hit by the floodings, one village had been totally wiped out. The remains of Marina Kaderi were really thinly spread, and the inhabitants had been set up in tents on a road a bit higher up. As far as you could see, that road was packed with tents. If you could even call them tents, because they merely were wooden constructions, with plastic tarps thrown over.

As we walked along the road, covered with improvised emergency shelters, I noticed a young mother with her child. She was sitting under an orange piece of tarp, that covered her and her youngling from the harsh sun. As I looked from her shelter to the others and back, I kept wondering if those would even be sufficient protection from any more monsoon rainfall that would surely be upon them soon.

The floodings of Nepal series, summer 2017

Pt.3

This is a portrait of the boy's mother, whose arm got broken. Even though we couldn't really understand each other because of an obvious language barrier, her face really spoke to me with a lot more than words could.
I could read from her eyes how worried she was. Not only for her son, but for their home and their future. It was really heartbreaking to see the people that have the least, being hit the hardest. Right then and there, there was not a lot we could do, so I took her portrait, in the hopes of getting it out there and raising awareness and concern. So that people who have it better, would hopefully give more to those in need.
