“I don’t know what to wear for my photoshoot” …… is probably the most common thing I hear from clients. When it comes to photoshoots, the right outfit can make all the difference. Whether your shoot is for a special occasion, headshots for your business, or a bo***ir shoot, your clothing plays a huge role in the final outcome but it doesn’t have to be as complicated as we think. Sometimes the most simple outfit can make you look amazing. If it’s not printed, is it even a photograph?

Seeing a finished image displayed on a screen is always a nice feeling but actually holding a physical print gives a completely different level of satisfaction and connection.
How many photos do you have stored on your computer or phone that you are “going” to print out or make a book or album of?
How many of us never get round to it and they stay hidden on your harddrive?
Digital photos are important – just as imagination, thoughts and dreams are. But dreams disappear, thoughts are forgotten, and imagination begs to come to life in the real world. “Photography is about capturing souls not smiles”

Rein was one of the participants of my Portfolio Project, “The Power of Women”, which I am so grateful for. Not only did she open her heart including some difficult memories but she also stepped out of her comfort zone and allowed me to do her hair & make up for her shoot. Now Rein is not the type of lady to be fussed over or be the centre of attention ….. and she couldn’t remember the last time she wore make up or had her hair done professionally. It was very important to me that I photographed her as herself, keeping her visual integrity. Her hair was simply & classically styled and make up kept to a minimum, just enough to even out her already lovely complexion. For the styling, I mostly wanted her to feel comfortable so I used a simple black top and she brought in a couple of her own shirts which she wore with her trusted jeans.

Are your photos dying on your harddrive?

We live in a digital world and most of us have hundreds or thousands of photos on our phone’s and computer’s but how many of us actually print them out and display them. I believe that there is no better feeling than seeing your photo’s come to life in print. Imagine having a daily reminder of your amazing shoot …..to be able to walk into your room and look at a photo of yourself and/or your loved one and have your heart filled.
…….why would I want to display a photo of myself …. Well … why wouldn’t you!! I think you’re worth it!!
This is why, after your shoot, when you decide on which photos you want during your reveal appointment, you will always receive the printed version along with the equivalent digital file.
A 9up (9 of your favourite photo’s in a specially designed mat (passe-partout)), a framed print or a collection of wall art with your choice of finish are all available.

I bought a new seamless backdrop for the studio …. And how lucky was I that my daughter was here to test it out. We definitely laughed …. The fact that she’s a little crazy helped of course 🤪
This backdrop colour matches so well with whites, denim, navy ….
In preparation of any shoot I plan & design to each individual taking into account the type of shoot they book, their vision, their colouring, their favourite colour of clothes….
I want to create with you, not for you!!

I wrote a new blog on my website about entering portrait awards and accreditation programs. Mostly I create something specifically with the awards in mind but sometimes it’s photos i have taken of clients. The standards are very high so you really have to put quite a bit of work into choosing photos and deciding which category to enter.
