Antwerpen heeft plekken die je niet snel vergeet. Plekken waar de tijd even stilstaat en alles vanzelf cinematisch wordt.

Deze reeks maakte ik 31 meter onder de grond in de Sint-Annatunnel, naast de oudste nog werkende roltrappen ter wereld. Eén van die plekken waar je het meteen voelt zodra je er staat.

Dat gevoel probeer ik mee te nemen in elk project. Als je op zoek bent naar foto's met échte sfeer en karakter — ik ken de mooiste verborgen plekjes van de stad 🤍

Antwerp is full of hidden corners that don't feel entirely real. Places where time slows down and ordinary moments become cinematic.
This series was photographed 31 meters underground in the Sint-Annatunnel, next to the oldest functioning escalators in the world. It's one of those places with character, and that's exactly what I love bringing into my work.

We waren bezig met onze shoot met de sinaasappels máár... maart had andere plannen 🤡
Het was koud, Carolyn trok de blazer aan - en ineens was ze iemand anders. Zelfde locatie en zelfde gezicht maar toch een compleet andere vrouw.
Dat is wat ik zo graag zie tijdens shoots: het moment waarop alles stopt met zijn wat je had bedacht en gewoon wordt wat het moet zijn. Spontaniteit plan je niet. Je maakt er geen moodboard voor. Het overkomt je gewoon.
De kleurenversie heeft nog ergens warmte in zich maar die zwart-witversie heeft die nooit gehad.
Welke spreekt jou meer aan?

Because of the cold, Carolyn pulled on the blazer and became someone else entirely- same location, same face. Completely different woman.
This is what I love about photoshoots, the moment the session stops being what you planned and becomes something better. You can't schedule spontaneity. You can't mood board your way into it. It just arrives.
The colour version is still warm somewhere underneath. The black and white one never was.

Soms klopt alles gewoon: de blik, de styling en dat eeeeen streepje licht dat het verhaal vertelt. 👀 In deze shoot zocht ik naar de perfecte balans tussen warmte en karakter. Ik wilde dat het rood van de jurk het beeld echt zou vullen, maar op een zachte manier. Het licht van de zijkant zorgt voor die elegante touch en geeft de juwelen en de pose iets dromerigs. En het contrast met de blauwe achrtergrond maakt het voor mij helemaal af.Herken je dat gevoel, dat een kleur ineens alles op zijn plek zet? 📸

There’s something so captivating about a portrait when every layer works together... the styling, the mood, and that perfect light that tells the story. 👀 I was chasing a specific kind of warmth for this shot: glowing, yet strong and defined. I loved how the red of the dress filled the frame, adding energy without taking away from the moment. The soft side-light catches the jewelry just right, giving the whole pose a dreamy, elegant feel.That contrast between the warm foreground and the deep blue backdrop is everything. Does this color palette speak to you too? 📸

Één idee: a slow morning in de stad, cinematisch zonder het te proberen. Het soort ochtend waarop je de deur uitgaat voor boodschappen en er toch uitziet alsof je op weg bent naar a date 😁 Simply moeiteloos op de manier waarop alleen bepaalde vrouwen dat kunnen, maar het soort cool dat niet weet dat het cool is. Ami en ik hadden al eerder samen samengewerkt, onze eerste shoot gepubliceerd in Roidx Magazine. Ze brengt iets playful en tegelijk volledig zelfzekers mee, en dat werkte prachtig voor beide projecten. We haastten ons niet maar lieten de straten en gebouwen ons en onze artistic vision uitnodigen; we lieten de ochtend slow zijn en de jas rood en de sfeer licht mysterieus en volledig fun 😉

One idea: a slow morning in the city, cinematic without trying. The kind of morning where you go out for groceries and somehow end up looking like you're heading to a date 😁 Simply effortless in the way only certain women are but the kind of cool that doesn't know it's cool.

Ami and I had shot together before, our first collaboration published in Roidx Magazine. She brings something both playful and completely self-possessed, and it worked beautifully for both projects.

We didn't rush but let the streets and buldings invite us and our artistic vision; we let the morning be slow and the coat be red and the mood be slightly mysterious and entirely fun 😉

Some photoshoots happen naturally and there's an instant click between the photographer and the model. This one was like that. We took photos somewhere between inspiring conversations, beautiful and sad love stories and a warm spring morning in Antwerp.

That's the thing about shooting with someone who has just lived through something worth writing a song about. The feeling is already there before the camera comes out.
