My project "As Within So Without" will be exhibitioned on the 5th till the 13th of June in Z33 in Hasselt!

COMPLEX NATURE 5 juni – 13 juni (gesloten op 8 en 11 juni)

11 fotografiestudenten verkennen de complexe verhouding tussen mens, natuur en technologie vandaag. Terwijl sommigen de natuur in hun dichte omgeving herontdekten tijdens talloze verkenningen en wandelingen, trokken anderen naar afgelegen gebied of keken omhoog naar de sterren.

De expo is een zoektocht naar raakpunten, verstoringen of intrusies van natuur op mens of van mens op natuur. Terwijl sommige werken de connectie opzoeken tussen het aardse en de kosmos, rekken anderen de grenzen op van de natuur als levend organisme, als product of als puur artificiële creatie.

This work is dedicated to the victims of abusive relationships. To the victims that were cheated on, that were physically and mentally abused and were torn down. This is for you. I hope to encourage these victims to find their voices and to never be ashamed. To never be afraid.

I am going to attempt to sell some of my art work on my page! (You can find it on my photography page in the shop section) I am going to do my internship in Finland for 6 weeks and it's been a challenge to finance this trip. Any purchases or by sharing this post is deeply appreciated.

My name is Senja Penttilä and I am a photographer and experimental artist. For the last 4 years, I have been pursuing a masters degree in LUCA School of Arts; Belgium. My art is very personal to me and my creations have always contained a piece of my mind and soul. For the last 2 years, I have been diving into the deep-end of philosophy and how time works, since I have always struggled with accepting the past and accepting that memories will never be anything more than a moment in the past. For my masters degree, I want to go to my mind’s ultimate “time-capsule”: Scandinavia. I have lived in Sweden for 6 years, and ever since I had to leave (9 years prior), I have always longed to go back. I have made very fond memories there and I have met very kind hearted people. I have always felt a very deep connection with the Scandinavian wilderness and forests. Going back means everything to me, since I have been dreaming to go back ever since I left and I know that I will be able to create something spectacular once I am there. I have been working very hard to make this dream a reality and there is no better time to go back than for my master’s degree. I have 4 jobs where I work as much as I possibly can, to be able to afford my degree in photography (since I am an experimental artist and am specialised in analogue photography, my studies can get very expensive). But due to the pandemic, my employment in art museums and factories has been at an all-time low. I have been desperately looking for any solution, any way where I can earn enough to afford my trip to Scandinavia this year but things are starting to look down. I feel extremely stuck and lost. Which is why I have decided to sell some of my art work. I hope that I am able to raise the money that I need to get to Scandinavia, since I don’t see any other option. Any purchase is very appreciated, thank you in advance.
