The Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS) was founded in 1976 by a group of dedicated and experienced photographers with the mission of uniting professional and amateur photographers across Bangladesh. Under the dynamic leadership of Manzoor Alam Beg — a renowned photo maestro and mentor — BPS quickly achieved national and international recognition, including acceptance as the Bangladesh member or
ganization of FIAP (The International Federation of Photographic Art). Over the years, BPS has grown into a federation comprising fifteen photographic organizations from different parts of the country. BPS has an outstanding record of organizing monthly, annual, national, and international photography contests and exhibitions on a regular basis. Members of BPS have earned more than 1,100 prestigious international awards, including numerous first prizes and other coveted honors — an achievement unparalleled in many other fields in Bangladesh. Among the regular activities of BPS are its monthly meetings held at its own premises, featuring two photography competitions in Black & White and Color categories. Slide presentations, photography discussions, and the inauguration of month-long solo or group exhibitions at the BPS Gallery are integral parts of these meetings. Every year, BPS organizes the National Photography Contest and Exhibition in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. The society has also successfully organized several international photography competitions and exhibitions, many of them under the approval of FIAP. BPS operates an educational wing named the Bangladesh Photographic Institute (BPI), which conducts a Basic Photography Course consisting of 14 sessions, including practical outdoor photography and darkroom training. To recognize distinguished and accomplished photographers, BPS confers honorary and academic distinctions such as Honorary Member, Licentiate Member (LBPS), Associate Member (ABPS), and Fellow Member (FBPS). These recognitions are awarded through a systematic evaluation of a photographer’s qualifications, achievements, contributions, experience, and portfolio. Honorary distinctions are also conferred upon celebrated photographers for their exceptional contributions to photography. Contact Information
