White gold man

The salt that enhances the taste of our food,
is hidden in every grain of it with the sweat of the workers.
Before the dawn, the salty sea air drenches
the coast of Chittagong. The red sun slowly rises in the sky, and with it some people whose lives are white, but whose fates are salty, wake up. They set foot on the white ground, where there is no soil, only a layer of salt
shine, yet hard. The lines on their hands are broken by the sharp touch of salt, the stories of years of hard work are stored under their skin.
These hands are the ones who give birth to the “white gold” that is the taste of our kitchen, but the struggle of their lives. In the midday sun, when the soil becomes fire, they do not stop. Their bodies are soaked in sweat, but their hands do not stop. One basket, two baskets they pick up the white dream, whose price is low in the market, but priceless with hard work. When evening falls, the sky changes color, and black shadows float on that white field, the story of the tired people returning. Their footprints are erased, but the salt stains remain, which say that behind this white beauty, there are countless unseen lives. ZUMA Press The Guardian
