বিশেষজ্ঞদের বিশ্লেষণ অনুযায়ী, সাবমার্সিবলটি গভীর সমুদ্রের প্রচণ্ড চাপে মাত্র কয়েক মিলিসেকেন্ডের মধ্যে ভেতরের দিকে ধসে পড়ে বিস্ফোরিত হয়। বিভিন্ন পদার্থবিজ্ঞানী ও প্রকৌশল বিশেষজ্ঞের ধারণা, এই প্রক্রিয়াটি প্রায় ১৫ মিলিসেকেন্ডের মতো সময়ে সম্পন্ন হয়েছিল।

এর ফলে অনেক বিশেষজ্ঞ মনে করেন, টাইটানের আরোহীরা সচেতনভাবে ব্যথা অনুভব করার আগেই ঘটনাটি সম্পূর্ণ হয়ে যায়। গভীর সমুদ্রের প্রায় ৩,৮০০ মিটার নিচে পানির চাপ সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠের চাপের শত শত গুণ বেশি। সেই চাপের কাছে সাবমার্সিবলের কাঠামো ভেঙে পড়লে ধ্বংসপ্রক্রিয়া কার্যত তাৎক্ষণিক হয়ে ওঠে।
