Today, as part of our weekly activity, we held our weekly general meeting followed by a viewing and discussion session on the works of Vivian Maier and fellow photographers of her time.

Through their photographs, we explored different approaches to observation, everyday life, and visual storytelling that continue to influence photography today.

The 7th class of the Basic Photography Course was held yesterday, May 2 and focused on visualization. Participants learned how to think about a photograph before capturing it, planning elements like subject, light, and composition in advance.

The session emphasized developing the ability to see beyond the obvious; understanding how light, subject, and composition can be mentally structured before pressing the shutter. Participants engaged in guided exercises to strengthen their visual thinking and creative decision-making process.

Happy Buddha Purnima.

May the teachings of Gautama Buddha bring peace, compassion, and wisdom into your life.

“May all beings be happy.”

As Buddha taught, hatred never ends with hatred, only love can heal the world. Let us choose kindness, understanding, and inner peace in our own small ways.

Let us try to become a little better and a little kinder, so this world slowly becomes a more beautiful place. May this sacred day inspire calm hearts and a more compassionate world for all.

From DUPS, warm wishes to everyone on this blessed Buddha Purnima.

"Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high"
— Gitanjali

Every structure we see stands on unseen labour! Behind every towering skyline, every institution, every road we walk, and every comfort we often take for granted, there are hands that built it, shoulders that carried it, and lives devoted to making progress possible.

On this day we honor the workers whose labor shapes the foundation of our societies, often without recognition, yet never without impact. From the visible to the unseen, their resilience powers economies, sustains communities, and quietly writes the story of human advancement.

International May Day is not only a celebration of labor, it is also a reminder. A reminder that dignity, fairness and respect must never be luxuries reserved for a few, but rights afforded to every individual whose effort keeps the world in motion. It calls us to reflect on the value we assign to work, the voices we choose to hear and the humanity we must protect behind productivity.

Dhaka University Photographic Society (DUPS) sees, values and stands in deep respect for every hand that builds, sustains, and moves our world forward.
