OTML farewells Musje Werror with a guard of honour

Tuesday 6th December 2022

THE outgoing Managing Director and former Chief Executive Officer of Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) Musje Werror was given a guard of honour farewell as he walks out of the mining yard in Tabubil.

Mr. Werror ended his 34 years of service with the mine on December 1, 2022 and was officially farewell yesterday, Monday December 5, 2022.

He was sent off with a guard of honour starting at the terminal all the way to an awaiting OTML Charter One plane for the last time at Tabubil Airport.

The farewell was an emotional one witnessed by OTML employees, business partners and Tabubil residents.

Mr. Werror embraced and said goodbye to everyone and encourage them to support OTML’s vision to be the leading mining company in PNG.

“This is the opportunity for Papua New Guineans to show what we can do. I believe that we can and we will become the leading PNG mining company,” Mr. Werror said.

Before the farewell event, a dinner was held last weekend where OTML management, employees, business partners and community leaders paid tribute to Mr. Werror’s service and contribution to OTML.

At the dining hall, OTML Board Chairman, Dr. Roger Higgins said in a letter that Mr. Werror deserved all the congratulations and accolades for his many achievements and that he still had more to offer beyond OTML.

“You have much more to give to PNG and the mining industry internationally. I have no doubt you will have opportunities to do this in the coming years,” said Dr. Higgins.

Moreover, OTML Acting CEO, Mark Thompson also said “you (Werror) leave with the knowledge that you have made an extraordinary contribution to OTML and to the people of the Western Province and PNG.

It has been a privilege to work with and for you, and be assured that we will all continue to work together in the spirit of ‘One Team, Wan Pasin’ to realise the journey you have commenced,” the Acting CEO said.

MINISTER PAITA LAUNCHES UPGRADE AND SEALING OF SEPIK COASTAL HIGHWAY

Approved for Release: Friday, 18th November 2022

Minister for Finance and Planning Hon. Rainbo Paita has officially launched the upgrade and sealing of the Sepik Coastal Highway in Vanimo on behalf of the Acting Prime Minister, Hon. John Rosso.

In his keynote address to the people of Sandaun Province on Thursday (17/11/22), Mr Paita said his Departments of Finance and National Planning have prioritised funding for the Connect PNG Program.

“Roads must be built as they are the foundation for development. When there are roads, the cost for other developments like hospitals and schools decrease. When there are no roads, access to the health facilities is costly and law & order issues rise.

“The program will connect the whole country and at the same time, we will be building wharves.

For the Vanimo Wharf, the Government has approved its construction under the Public Private Partnership Program where the National Government will partner with the provincial government and an investor to co-fund its construction,” he said.

Mr Paita added that the Marape-Rosso Government is unable to immediately provide electricity and communication services as well as other basic services to the people at this time because the country is yet to be connected by roads.

In appreciation, Minister Paita thanked the Minister for Works and Highways, Hon. Solan Mirisim for the work he and his Secretary, David Wereh and their staff are currently doing.

Further, Minister Paita offered his support to the Department of Works and Highways to continue on its good work so PNG can be connected by roads soon.

He said by connecting the roads could also unite the people and create a national pride of being Papua New Guineans.

In addition, the Minister informed the people that funding for other district projects have been released to the District Treasury Office for work to begin.

The projects include;
