আজ আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস।
আর ভাষার ভেতর যে প্রথম শব্দটা বেঁচে থাকে, তা হলো — মা।

আমরা ভাষা শিখেছি তাঁর মুখের শব্দে,
অ আ ক খ শিখেছি তাঁর কণ্ঠের সুরে।
যে ভাষায় প্রথম ডেকেছি “মা”,
সেই ভাষাই আজ আমাদের পরিচয়, আমাদের অহংকার।

মা শুধু মানুষ নন,
মা এক ভাষা।
মা এক দেশ।
মা এক শেকড়।

এই মাতৃভাষা দিবসে সালাম সকল ভাষাশহীদদের,
আর ভালোবাসা সেই মাকে,
যার মুখের ভাষাই আমাদের প্রথম স্বাধীনতা।
