🌼 There's not many things that compare to photographing your youngest child when they are about to become a father for the first time. So many emotions. And to witness the love and excitement he shares with his gorgeous wife as they await the arrival of their little girl... well it's a very special feeling. I am so very lucky to still be able to capture some of that feeling on film. I hope one day this little one knows how much she was loved, even before she was born.

💙 This is the twin artwork for the image I posted yesterday. Taken on Naxos immediately before a huge storm that had us stuck on the island for four days, it shows the storm clouds starting to roll in. It sounds like a dream to be stuck on a Greek island, but the reality was being in cyclonic weather and having to pack and return to the tiny airport each morning, wait four hours and then be told the plane is not coming. I was actually okay with that, as I had no desire to be on a small plane in that wild weather!

💙 My mission on this trip was to use only one lens, as last time the simple act of changing lenses introduced so much muck inside my camera that each image needed cleaning up before editing even began.
I ended up choosing a macro 35mm for versatility, but this posed many challenges with distance. My other mission was to photograph a sailing boat, but they were always well out to sea. So, when I spotted this sailboat while on the ferry from Corfu to the mainland, I was racing around the decks to try and get a closer angle. I took many images (which I do love) of a tiny boat in the vast sea. But as the boat approached, I managed to capture this image and knew at the time that I loved it. The boat then veered away from us so I am so lucky to have photographed it at the perfect time. You can see the snow-capped mountains of Albania in the background, and the haze of the seaspray in the morning air.
I have just collected my large, framed print of this image and delivered it to Cherie at Kit & Eve in Yeppoon. It’s printed on fine-art paper with torn edges, signed and numbered. This is edition one of ten. It’s glorious 💙

💙 Not many people could bring me out of retirement. But when this family asks if I'm available to photograph them, I try my very best to be there. We worked out that I've been photographing them for 21 years. My work adorns the walls of their gorgeous family home, with photographs of the kids from newborns to adults. So today I spent a beautiful afternoon capturing them together once more 💙

It’s time I shared some of my recent journey to Greece with you. I fully intended on sharing as we travelled, but truthfully, by the end of each day I had not an ounce of energy left. I’m sad about this now, always intending on doing it the next day, then the next, and here we are back in Australia already.
I am currently sorting through the many hundreds of photographs I took along the way, with the aim of making a book once I edit my favourites. So, I think I’ll share an image every day or two as I work my way through. I hope you come along on the journey with me.
Photograph taken in Meteora, central Greece. Monks built these incredible monasteries, seemingly floating on the sandstone peaks. It is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever visited and there is a feeling in the air that I cannot describe in words. It’s almost magical.

Today is day one of our new adventure. I won’t count the last two weeks of uncertainty as our flights were cancelled and we lost payments on our accommodation. Or the past three days spent in transit after all the rearrangements. I just have to remember how lucky we are to be able to travel right now and visit such beautiful places.
So today we woke up in gorgeous Nafplio. It is very cold and very rainy, but so lovely.
I’ll try and post a little as we go, and I’ll also be taking some photos to add to my travel collection as well as writing about how I came to be in this place of discovery. Maybe to share or maybe just for me.
