The May weekend Getaway trip was longer than a weekend. It was a whole week. It was also further away than our normal trips. From Sydney we travelled 1158kms to get there and then during our time there another 1067kms!
Yes I am talking about our 7 days in Broken Hill. Also Menindee, Silverton, Wilcannia and White Cliffs. We were blessed with great weather. It rained the week before so there was green everywhere possible. Not high grass but a touch of green.
Half the group travelled by Train to Broken Hill, while the other half flew.
Either way everyone had a great time.
These are only a small selection of photos taken on the trip.

April 18, 2026 saw a group of 21 SPF photographers walk the streets of Balmain. These are but a few of the photos taken by our group.
Balmain, a Harbourside suburb on a peninsula west of Sydney. The area known as Balmain was part of a land grant to the First Fleet assistant surgeon William Balmain in 1800.

Petersham an inner west suburb of Sydney is rich in character and history. While today it has a large diaspora of Portuguese who have called Sydney home. The best part of this for all of us who like food, is that there are traditional fresh made Portuguese tarts. These are some of the many photos taken on a our recent walk of the area. The rain held off for another great walk.

We have been off to rocky start to 2026. The best layed plans of mice and men, comes to mind. Our two physical meetups which were planned in Jan required some last minute changes. The first was to be our annual Rally where we head off in teams to collect photos of select objects. However the planned day saw temps reach 40+ degrees. Then the next weekend of a ferry trip around the harbour was called off due to rain. However the planned third event for January is proceeding, as it is an online event. Our final event for Jan is also scheduled. Thus we are looking to the weather Gods to ensure a great day.
Whether you have a phone or larger camera have a look at our Meetup page, and join one (or more) of a casual walks, while having lots of fun.

A recent comment shared about why a person comes along to Sydney Photo Fun events was;

"I definitely feel part of a close group of people who understand my inability to walk a straight line down a street without diverting down side lanes, crossing the road twice to get a better angle and experiencing the joy of seeing and capturing things the average punter just walks past."

This sums up what we do, and why we do it. So look up our group on meetup.com, and join us for a walk. You do not need to have a large camera, as many people who join our walks use their mobile phone. They also gain some outstanding photos too.

What started out looking like rain, turned out to be a warm morning which saw the group looking for shade during our Photo Walk through the Heritage listed suburb of Haberfield. The suburb was developed in the early 1900's and was to be "slum-less, lane-less and pub free". You will walk along wide tree lined streets where single story houses are set back from the road with low front and side fences designed to promote a sense of community.
