Are you accessible to Sydney? Free this arvo? Feel free to join me Today at 3pm (Sunday the 21st) as I'm presenting a workshop at Sony Scenescape on behalf of Profoto at the White Bay Power Station.

I don't profess to know everything about lighting. There's so much to discover. However, I've been able to use what I do know in my wedding photography to take away stress from difficult lighting situation, to add a bit of magic for my clients and to simply explore and create. I'd love to show you a bit about how I do that.

At the end of the night at Athol Hall in Mosman, where Wade and Eliza celebrated their beautiful wedding, Wade and I found ourselves chatting out front. We talked about everything from good coffee and business to the Shire and beyond. At one point, I suggested he get back to his guests, to which he replied, "Nah, I can chat to these guys anytime."

This moment reminded me that one of the most valuable gifts we can give each other is time and attention. When this exchange is mutual, it makes life truly wonderful.

This is why I always take the time to meet both you and your partner after your initial inquiry. I aim to know you well enough to feel like an old friend with a fancy camera on your wedding day.

If you come across a photographer who pushes for a quick booking without meeting, maybe ask yourself why.

Looking forward to meeting more amazing couples like Wade and Eliza.

Cheers,
James

Wedding and family photographer captures epic imagery!

The B10X placed behind his subjects, Day creates beautiful backlighting that adds a touch of romance and drama to this wedding portrait - enveloping the couple in a soft, luminous halo that enhances their silhouette against the dynamic backdrop.

How will you use your Profoto lights to capture timeless imagery this weekend? Tag & , we want to see!

I've been sitting here for the past 20 minutes trying to come up with words that accurately describe the story of these two.

But, perhaps we're not ready for that. Let's consider this a quick introduction to a story that'll be told on another day where I share a whole gallery of images of these two and those they love.

This is Alice & Jimmy. I can't wait to introduce you to them properly.

Andrew & Eleanor met in London. Andrew was the Aussie guy working at a pub. Eleanor was the customer that ordered "Pigs in a blanket". Andrew was the guy tasked with delivering said food.

I met Andrew when hew was in the year below me at school in my Armidale days. Their story is way better, clearly.

Last night, in the rain, Eleanor asked "Do you think we could make it down to the Opera House for a photo?".

After this photo I suggested that perhaps I put my camera down, walk ahead and give them some time for just the two of them, to walk back to the venue by themselves.

I think photos can be helpful, but moments don't always require photos to make them memorable.

The ceremony was about to start and I heard someone fall. I look over and it’s grandpa. He had fallen off his chair and into a bush, next to a steep drop.

With the help of his wife, he got up, with a smile on his face, brushed his suit off (which he claims he wore to his own wedding) and waited for the bride to walk down the aisle.

You see, this day wasn’t just any other day. It was his 60th wedding anniversary. The bride & groom planned their wedding to be on their anniversary as a way to honour them. After the ceremony I pulled the grandparents aside and asked them both individually what the secret was to 60 years of marriage.

Grandpa replied, “she’s always there for me. She’s always been reliable. I can always count on her.” Grandma agreed it was all about having each others back. I got to witness this in action. I decided not to take photos of the fall as they wouldn’t have wanted the attention, but instead I’d like to share these photos to celebrate these two and congratulate them on 60 years and 1 day married!
