Peek A Boo

The Australian Owlet-Nightjar. Australia's smallest nocturnal bird.

Always nice to find one of these peeping out of it's sleeping spot.

The Australian Hobby continued with stretches but refused to take off. Well, so I thought. After an hour or so I looked away for a split second and what do you know, an empty tree. Ugh!

Next in my series of shots from Mt Annan Botanical Gardens is the Australian Hobby.
There's a large dead tree it likes to perch upon and scan it's domain.
Had the camera all set for quick burst shots should it decide to lift off. But ahhh no. It just sat there, occasionally looking down to see what I was doing. This was going to be a battle of patience.

Went for a dark look on this one.

Day 2. One of them was back again at the same tree. I couldn't have been any more than just a couple of meters away.

Following on from yesterday....

With the Crimson Rosellas being relatively low in small tree and seemingly comfortable with my presence I could get some nice close shots. This being the first one.

Crimson Rosella

Earlier this year while walking one of my favourite tracks in the gardens I came across two Crimson Rosellas feeding relatively low in a tree. Over two days of visits I was able to score a few shots. This being the first one in the series. A few more to come in the next few days.
