The Photos You Regret Are Usually The Ones You Never Took

Life has a funny way of convincing us to wait.

When the kids are older.
When things settle down.
When we’re less busy.
When we lose a few kilos.
When the timing feels right.

But life rarely slows down.

The years keep moving.

The children keep growing.

And before you know it, an entire season has passed.

You don’t need perfect circumstances.

You just need today.

Because one day, today’s ordinary moments will be the ones you miss most.

A few things you might not know about me...

Before photography, I spent over a decade as a hairdresser.

I also spent years working as a personal trainer, managing gyms and teaching Les Mills classes.

Looking back, it might seem like a random career path.
But honestly, every one of those roles taught me something I still use today.

Hairdressing taught me how to connect with people quickly. How to listen. How to build trust. How to help someone feel comfortable sitting in my chair.

The fitness industry taught me something different.
It taught me that confidence isn’t about being perfect.

I spent years helping people who felt nervous walking into a gym, doubted themselves, or worried they weren’t fit enough, strong enough or capable enough.

Sound familiar?

It’s often exactly how people feel before stepping in front of a camera.

Whether it’s a wedding day or a family session, most people aren’t worried about the photos.

They’re worried about themselves.

How they’ll look.

What they’ll do.

Whether they’ll feel awkward.

And maybe that’s why I love this job so much.

Because at its heart, photography has never really been about cameras for me.

It’s about people.

Helping them feel comfortable.

Helping them feel seen.

And showing them that they don’t need to change a thing to be worthy of being photographed.

Turns out every job I’ve ever had was preparing me for this one.

Not everything needs to be directed to be beautiful.

The most meaningful moments happen when no one’s performing, just present.

This is what I’m always watching for ✨

If this is how you want your day to be remembered, I’d love to be there 💕

Should I wear a veil?

This question comes up more than you’d think — and the answer is always the same:

only if you want to.

Not because it’s traditional. Not because your mum expects it. Not because it photographs beautifully (though it does). Only if it feels like you.

Some of my favourite moments with veils have nothing to do with the classic down-the-aisle shot. It’s your sister fixing it while you laugh. Your partner lifting it for the first time. The way it catches light during portraits, or how it frames your face in a quiet moment before the ceremony.

But I’ve also photographed dozens of stunning, emotional, deeply personal weddings without one — and those images feel just as complete, just as romantic, just as you.

Here’s what I tell every bride asking this question: close your eyes and picture yourself on your wedding day. What do you see? What feels right? That’s your answer.
If you love the romance and tradition of a veil, wear it. If it feels like something you’re doing for someone else, leave it. Your wedding day should feel like the truest version of yourself — not a costume, not a performance.

Trust your instinct. I promise, it knows.

Rach and Paul’s pre-ceremony plan involved a pub stop. And honestly? It’s genius.

Here’s the thing: your wedding doesn’t have to follow anyone else’s script. It doesn’t have to look like the weddings you see on Instagram or the ones your parents remember. It just has to feel like you.
Want to hit the pub between getting ready and saying “I do”? Do it.
Want to skip the first dance? Skip it.
Want to serve pizza instead of a three-course meal? Your day, your call.
Rach and Paul knew what mattered to them, and they built their day around that. The result? A wedding that actually felt like theirs—not a performance, just a really good day with the people they love most.
So if you’re planning your wedding and something feels off, or you’re doing something just because you think you’re “supposed to,” this is your permission to scrap it.
Do it your way.
Your wedding, your rules.
