A little reminder for all of my beautiful clients.

Please make sure you are downloading your entire gallery once it has been delivered to you and wherever possible, keep your gallery backed up in more than one place.

Over the past few months, I've received quite a few messages from past clients hoping I can recover galleries for them, including some sessions from several years ago. Unfortunately photographers aren't able to store every gallery indefinitely and after a period of time, older galleries are removed from storage.

I've also noticed when delivering galleries that only one or two photos have been downloaded rather than the full gallery. Even if you only plan on sharing a few favourites straight away, please take the time to download and safely store all of your photos.

My biggest recommendation is to have more than one copy. Save them to your computer or phone back them up to cloud storage and ideally keep another copy on a USB or external hard drive. That way if a phone is lost, a computer breaks or something happens to one copy, your photos are still safe somewhere else.

As photographers, we keep galleries available for a period of time after delivery but we cannot guarantee lifetime storage. The amount of storage required for thousands and thousands of high resolution photos is significant and also comes at an ongoing cost.

Once your gallery has been delivered, your photos are yours to keep so please make downloading and backing them up a priority. I would hate for anyone to lose them simply because they were never properly downloaded or backed up.

So when that exciting gallery email lands in your inbox: download the whole thing, back it up and keep those photos safe.
