I've been hearing, and having more conversations around general things impacting small businesses this year and so I thought I'd share them with you.

It's not crazy pretty photos, but it is a real update on why I've made the changes to my prices that I have - while protecting you (who'll hopefully hire me to take photos of you and your dogs 👀) as much as possible for the wild ride that running a business in Australia gives us.

There's an offer on the table right now that I want to make sure you actually know about before it closes.

Pay your Session Fee in June, and you lock in my current rate of $200 (it goes up to $300 on July 1).

You also get a bonus Photomount print included, and you don't have to have your session date sorted right now. You have until October 31 to have your Session. Whether you'd like to have a Session in the snow, in the tulips, amongst the Japanese Cherry Blossoms or in the bush - you can pick a vibe that suits you.

So if you've been thinking about it, this is the part where you stop thinking and just lock it in.

Four spots only. June 30 cut-off. That's genuinely it.

Plus a couple extras for anyone who knows what print products they'd like already - or for any current or prior clients who'd like to take advantage of a sneaky sale!

Sunday was not a great day for me.

It started well. Got all my meal prep on and pretty much done. Set up the fireplace to be able to spend the afternoon relaxing and working on my uni assignment.

And then... I chopped off a very small sliver of my finger chopping up wood for kindling...

Rick for the call to come home and take me to Urgent Care. My mum got the call to look up where the nearest one to me was. Everyone was very stressed because I couldn't communicate properly through the pain and shock.

Urgent Care patched me up and I had to keep pressure on the wound until it stopped bleeding (that took like 7 hours!), and I went to a local GP clinic the next day to get the dressing changed. That GP confirmed I'd had a tetanus shot on Sunday, that I hadn't impinged on my tendons or anything that would require a plastic surgeon and that yes - there's nothing to stick because I chopped it clean off.

I'm due back at the doctor's tomorrow, but as my body is fighting to stay healthy and regrow that small sliver of my fingertip, I've succumbed to a head cold.

So I'm now holed up on the couch downstairs, trying to get another fire going so I can hopefully feel better soon!

Worst case scenario tomorrow at the docs is that they put me on antibiotics of some kind to help my body recover.

In the mean time, all my clients have been absolutely amazing when I notified them that there may be delays in getting their orders to them. And I'm so absolutely thankful to have such kind and considerate clients!

You guys make this so worth it!

Delivery day is always a good day!

received their artwork this morning and they loved it!

Part of the experience of buying printed artwork is being able to walk in and see your artwork fully. You don't get glimpses as you're pulling about the packaging, you just see the whole thing in its glory.

They even showed me where they're going to hang it on Mala's Wall to Honour.

Don't print your photos somewhere like Kmart.

While Kmart or similar printing is fine for quick snaps from your phone, and are great for displaying candid or impromptu memories.

They just don't cut it for professional photos.

The time, effort and cost involved in creating the photos we create for you shouldn't be destroyed by sub-par printing. You should have them printed by professional print labs to ensure your memories can truly be treasured for YEARS, not a couple measly months before the images start discouloring.

My preferred print lab .pro.lab is amazing, always produces high quality images and quality checks the artwork they send me as they're making it to ensure it's the best quality before it gets to me, let alone you.

Gorgeous Pippin at Southbank on a quiet sunrise morning.

The only thing missing is the pontoon lights that were on a little earlier. I'd love to come back here and take photos while the pontoon lights are on, it'd look so magical!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums in all shapes and sizes!

While I don't have human children, I do have a fur baby Bones Malone who is the reason this business exists at all. So I can capture the memories we want to remember forever of the time we spend with our fur babies.

Bones came into our lives in January 2020 after we fell in love with his stupidly cute puppy face. But, we faced some pretty serious challenges with his behaviour when we discovered how dog aggressive he was, and it only got worse in lock downs due to daily charges from random off leash dogs.

In helping Bones navigate the learning curve to neutrality I basically became a dog trainer myself. Over time we tried out different dog sports and found ways to give him a biological outlet to help him better manage his emotions when we saw dogs, and over time he started to find dogs he was comfortable being around.

Now he's able to participate in off leash dog hikes and adventures with dogs we haven't met before, and live his life to the fullest.

But my favourite moments with him are still our solo adventures where we explore new places and locations. And my drive behind my photography remains the same, to capture the memories I unfortunately can't afford to have someone else follow us to capture.

Knowing how far we've come, and that I've been able to capture photos of him doing things I didn't think possible back in 2020 is what makes this worth it.
