Meet the Mareeba Rock Wallaby (Petrogale mareeba), a rare and incredibly adorable marsupial found only in a small region of north-eastern Queensland.
These little guys move with remarkable agility and speed in the rugged, rocky environments they inhabit, thanks to evolutionary adaptations in their feet and tails.

Compared to other macropods, their feet are smaller but specially adapted to grip the rocky terrain. The soles of their hind feet have thick, textured pads that provide excellent traction, allowing them to move swiftly and securely across the rocks.

Their long, cylindrical tails, about the same length as their bodies, are crucial for balance and stability, helping them navigate uneven surfaces.
