Do you know a young person aged 9-16 who would like to perform?
I'm the lucky recipient of a Nillumbik Community Fund Grant and will be running drama improv workshops in Term 4 of 2026 and adapting picture books for the stage in Term 1 of 2027.
This will be taking place in Hurstbridge with the support of Nillumbik Shire Council and Allwood Neighbourhood House Inc. These FREE classes will take place at Allwood House on Tuesday afternoons in Term 4.
Please share the page No Big Dramas with any Nillumbik locals who you think may be interested. I'm currently seeking expressions of interest, so as to determine how to run the classes (based on the ages of interested participants). You can register your child's interest here:

I'm excited to start this project and to have Sue Arnold (AKA Miss Wattle) and Annie Rossini running a workshop for the lucky participants too!

I'm so excited to be starting this project and thankful to be selected as a recipient of the Nillumbik Community Fund Grant from Nillumbik Shire Council
If you know of a young person between the ages of 9 & 16 who would like to be involved in a theatre program with a guaranteed public performance opportunity. Please register your interest at: https://forms.gle/A3CseMpmia7keBEe8
At this point I am just collecting the ages of interested participants, as this will determine how I separate the classes. Once a booking link is ready I will then email it to those who expressed interest.
This program shall revolve around adapting picture books for the stage. Two books shall be performed in April 2027, to families with young children. Together we will collaborate to make a show that is fun, vibrant, silly, and built around your talents. We can incorporate singing, dancing and music, depending on the talents participants bring and the experiences they seek.
There will be a focus on theatrical improvisation and term four includes THREE FREE WORKSHOPS with local professional performers. These will include Sue Arnold (The Wattle Festivals very own Miss Wattle) who will be running a workshop on comic timing and stage presence, and Annie Rossini who will cover breathing, vocal projection and basic singing tips.
This project is being created by NIllumbik local, Rebecca who runs the storytime and dance sessions at Allwood Neighbourhood House Inc and who works as a photographer and aspiring author as Rebecca Landy Creates.
