When is an image finished?

Post-production is one of the most personal parts of photography. Some photographers prefer a light touch that preserves the moment exactly as it was. Others use editing to shape mood, atmosphere and emotion.

Neither approach is right or wrong.
The important question is whether every adjustment has a purpose. If you keep changing an image simply because you can, it's worth asking whether the photograph is becoming stronger - or just different.

An unusual crop, heavy editing or an unexpected effect doesn't automatically make an image memorable. The strongest entries still have purpose. Every creative choice adds to the story, emotion or impact of the photograph.

The best rule-breakers know the rules first. Then they bend them, ignore them or reinvent them in a way that feels intentional.
