Good morning all, and Happy New Year’s Eve. And what a way to end off the year! I know, I haven’t been around much for a while. I’ve had some health issues, moved house, and just generally been super busy. But am hoping now to get back to more sunrise walks again, but will be featuring south of Wollongong more, where I now live. Today’s sunrise is from Haywards Bay, and I was hoping the whole sky was going to explode with colour but there was just a little too many heavy clouds sitting just above the horizon. Nevertheless, the colours were fantastic pre-dawn. I also made a furry friend in my walk, so a bonus 🐈

Hope it’s been a great year for you all, and next year will be even better ☺️🙏🏻

Haven’t had the chance to see sunrise much lately due to health & life in general, and this was just what I needed. Although the clouds could have been more accomodating for better photos 😂😂

The Church on the Mall in Wollongong will be "moth balled" from November 11 due to ongoing maintenance, compliance and upgrade costs.

The local heritage building was opened in 1882.

The Wesley Uniting Church estimates it would cost over half a million dollars to upgrade.

Uniting Church Minister, Gordon Bradbery previously served at the chuch and said it's very difficult decision for the faith community.

"Oh they are very disappointed and saddened of course," he said.

"And I think of the many in the community. I concluded my ministry in 2011 and unfortunately it has deteriorated over the years and in terms of the ability of the congregation to be able maintain that building."

Mr Bradbery said the current faith community can not afford the improvement and is considering its options.

"There is a group of people in the congregation who want to establish a fund to look at ways in which it could possibly be restored - I'm not involved in that - but it is one of those buildings [that's] part of the fabric of Wollongong."
