For landscapes, composition is king. If you’re wondering why some photos catch your interest, while others seem cluttered or uninspired - it all comes down to composition. The brain is subconsciously hard wired to pay attention to certain types of patterns- some of those are shown below. If your painting starts with a strong compositional structure, the rest just falls into place.
