Photography is something that has interested me for a long time. However, working, raising a family and life in general simply did not allow me the time to learn what I needed to at start. A few years ago I had the opportunity to study Criminology, Photography and other Sociological subjects at James Cook University. My lecturers, tutors and fellow students all acknowledge that what we learned at
Uni is only the start. The more we shoot, the more we learn and the better we become! I am the son of a shearer and proud of it! Being born and raised in the North West Queensland town of Richmond has given me a love of the bush and bush people. Hence when it was time to consider what I shot and where, it was my choice to head bush. Local Identities, Old buildings, Rodeo, Camp drafting, Barrel Racing, Gymkhana, Horse Racing, Landscapes, Working stock, Shearing, the Beautiful Animals, Birds and Landscapes of the downs country are all areas that I would like to work on! In short, if it’s out bush, I will most likely be interested in taking a shot or two. Bush Sunsets, Sunrises and Astrophotography are also high on my agenda! Those of us who lived out bush know just how breathtaking all those are. I do not refer to myself as a professional photographer. Just a bloke with a camera on a extended learning program. Travelling does not concern me and camping doesn’t worry me in the least. My swag has already been rolled out in a few dry gullies around the western areas of Queensland. I hope we catch up sometime! Perhaps around a rodeo ground, watching shearers wrestle some big wethers, or maybe at a bar after a big day in the sun! Where ever, When ever, don’t hesitate to say hello! Be well, Stay Safe and be Kind to each other! Cheers. Brian
