A captured moment of nature’s beauty on The Strand, Townsville!
This male and female Red‑tailed Black Cockatoo were spotted enjoying fresh Sea Almonds high in the coastal canopy — a perfect glimpse into the wild side of North Queensland.

These magnificent birds are among Australia’s most iconic native species, and seeing a pair feeding together is something truly special. Their powerful beaks make light work of the tough Sea Almond fruit, cracking them open to reach the nutritious seeds inside.

Townsville really puts on a show when the black cockies drop in. Moments like this are why we love living in the tropics.

The photographer’s curse? Once you start noticing light, shadows, reflections, texture and colour, even a quick dash to the shops turns into a full‑blown photo walk.

Another one of my firsts — a school formal graduation shoot for an old school friend’s youngest daughter, Maya. There really is a first time for everything.

Maya and James looked absolutely striking out at Queens Gardens, Townsville — the colours, the energy, the whole moment just clicked.

This one has honestly boosted my confidence levels. I’m extremely happy with the results and grateful I got to capture such a special milestone.

Exciting news my brand new 2027 landscape calendars are on their way to Townsville and available for sale very soon. This year’s calendar features images from Townsville, Charters Towers, Hughenden, Magnetic Island, Cardwell, Fitzroy Island off Cairns, the Cape Cleveland wetlands, and Jourama Falls up near Ingham — a little tour of North Queensland’s best.
Still only $35

A stunning winter sunrise over the Rockpool this morning — golden light, calm water, and that crisp little bite in the air that wakes you right up.
Townsville really knows how to start the day.

Who’s up for an early winter’s morning dip?
What a way to kick things off.

16th of June. Funny how the same date can carry so many different skies.
Some years it’s calm, some years it’s wild, some years it feels like the whole world is glowing.

Looking back through these shots, it’s a reminder of why I keep picking up the camera — every year brings its own version of beauty, and Townsville never repeats itself.

Thanks for being part of the journey, year after year.

Another country added to the destination list — Italy 🇮🇹✈️🇦🇺

Yesterday I sold one of my 9‑image fridge magnets and a 2026 calendar to a lovely Italian couple visiting Townsville to see their son. These little pieces of North Queensland are now jetting back to Italy as souvenirs of their trip — how cool is that. 🌍✨

And as for what’s next… it’s almost time to start designing the 2027 calendar.
I didn’t quite hit the goal of 300 sales this year, so I may have to scale things back — not the direction I want to go, but the reality is I lose money if they don’t all sell.

Still, every time one of these calendars heads off to another corner of the world, it reminds me why I keep creating.

Winter sunsets atop Castle Hill just hit different — the air cooler, the colours richer, and the whole city glowing under that soft golden fade. Even the grass in the foreground feels like it’s leaning in to watch the day end.
