Ebony Allen-Ankins Photography

Ebony Allen-Ankins Photography Award-winning Townsville birth, newborn, maternity & family photographer Hey there. I'm Ebony, and I tell love stories.

I tell birth stories, postpartum stories, and the story of new life from pregnancy all the way through to family. Of the changes in our bodies, relationships & hearts. Unscripted, genuine and raw, with the people who matter most. Especially the ones who are yet to make it earthside. There's something undeniably healing and incredible about being able to re-live your birthing experience. In noticin

g the little details and the way you felt on your birthing day, the way you were supported & the way you worked through it in your own way. In looking back on the person you were before baby arrived, and realizing just how much has changed. In marveling again at the tiny newness of your baby, and their first weeks in your home. Having these memories documented in an artful way to share with your babies when, in a blink, they're not babies anymore.

The beauty of tween and teen siblings is that they really truly know what it means to wait for and welcome a new member of the family. I can't imagine how this big sister is feeling, but what a gift to be able to see your mother love and carry and bring a baby into the world, just as she did you. To see and remember her postpartum, the real raw highs and lows, and to learn from the experience.

A gift.

Daisies like mama, rainbow tule and bubbles, curious blue eyes in the dappled morning light. Hand wrapped around daddy's little finger, baby hair gently curling, and soon to be not-quite-so-baby, anymore...

My favourite age to photograph might just be the months leading up to bub's first year.

Their personalities shine, they're still oh so little, and they're not quite yet aware of all of the things they can or will do, and are content to live in the moment with you.

Just giving my littlest baby and I a spot on the feed, with some faceless self-portraits.

Remembering the way he fits perfectly, leaned back against my legs, trusting that I'm there with him. The softness of his golden baby hair, yet to be cut, which will probably darken like his brothers.

The smallness of his baby feet, and the evidence of his never-stop jumping and dancing.

Little things that make my eyes prickle, because they're fleeting, and will change oh so soon.

Baby curls,
cheek grazes,
clothes to grow into.
Sparkling eyes,
looking to you,
to learn something new.

💕 So many conversations behind this moment

A homebirth transfer is a homebirth done well. A woman’s choice to transfer from a planned homebirth to a hospital setting is always a wise choice when it is the woman’s free full and informed choice, and the woman is supported respectfully within that choice.
