There is something incredibly special about returning to the darkroom after so many years. The slowness of the process, and watching an image slowly emerge in the developer reminded me why I first fell in love with photography.
Working one-on-one with CatalinadelacruzA during this residency at TEF has been a real privilege. Together we’ve been exploring the Van D**e process. With Catalina’s generous mentorship, I also completed two handmade artist books, which I can’t wait to share.
Another highlight was taking part in Lecturas Visuales with Fluq Books and TEF where we discussed a selection of photobooks I brought to the Santiago Photo Fair StgoFoto 2026. It was fascinating to see how the books were interpreted through different cultural perspectives, reminding me that photobooks continue to evolve as they travel and find new readers.
I’m leaving this residency with new skills, new friendships, and a renewed appreciation for photography as both a material practice and a shared language.
now onto 4 days at STGO Foto
Hay algo muy especial en volver al cuarto oscuro después de tantos años. La lentitud del proceso y ver cómo una imagen aparece poco a poco en el revelador me recordaron por qué me enamoré de la fotografía.
Trabajar de manera personalizada con CatalinadelacruzA durante esta residencia en TEF ha sido un verdadero privilegio. Juntas hemos explorado el proceso Van D**e Brown. Gracias a la generosa mentoría de Catalina, también pude terminar dos libros de artista hechos a mano que ya tengo muchas ganas de compartir.
Otro de los momentos más significativos fue participar en las Lecturas Visuales, donde conversamos sobre una selección de fotolibros que traigo a STGO Foto. Fue fascinante ver cómo cada publicación era interpretada desde distintas perspectivas culturales, recordándome que los fotolibros siguen transformándose a medida que viajan y encuentran nuevos lectores.
Me voy de esta residencia con nuevos aprendizajes, nuevas amistades y una renovada apreciación por la fotografía como una práctica material y un lenguaje compartido.
