When the truth comes out during family photos 🪓

Also, I’m not sure you heard, but I don’t want you to look at me too much when we’re making your photos.

Black & white perfection.

Lightroom presets I created for that nostalgic and timeless edit.

Comment MATILDA and I’ll give you the link where you can grab them and start transforming your own photos 🖤

The longer family photos stay on the back burner, reality is, the more of these you’ll never have 🥹

I get it, life is full on and there’s always a reason to push it to next month or next year. But your kids are not waiting around for you to make that decision. They are growing up whether you book the photos or not.

These beautiful photos are from one session, with one family done in one hour on one afternoon - just hanging out in their backyard and keeping it simple. And just look at them! 😍 These are the photos you are missing out on if you keep saying ‘one day’.

My calendar is open and I’m taking bookings up until August.

Comment READY and I’ll send you a DM with direct access to my availability 😘

Will never not be weird when you point a camera at me.

I’m heading to Goondiwindi in June and I don’t know when I’ll be back out this way, so……

No travel fee for anyone within 50kms of Gundi. Up to 80kms is $75.

Spots are very limited and it’s first in, first served.

You can comment GUNDI and I’ll send you the link to book your spot.

Please tag and share with your mates who live nearby.

(I also think pulling the kids out of school for an hour or so counts as a valid reason to book a weekday session and make the most of this opportunity!) 😜

The first time I photographed Brooke and Aleks was as a second shooter at their wedding.

Since then they’ve built a family, moved homes, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve turned up at their door with my camera. Their eldest will probably be taller than me the next time I see them. I’ve been there for a lot of the good times and also for some of the harder ones too.

That’s the thing nobody tells you about booking the same photographer year after year. You don’t just get photos - you get someone who actually knows your family 🫶🏼

I’ve been looking back at old work and it feels so far from the creative I am these days.

I miss making art like this. It was so much easier back when the kids were little and they were happy to play along with me and my camera.

The period where I made these photographs was during Covid - we were living in Texas and we were forced to home isolate for weeks on end. I felt I needed a project to help distract from the boredom and give me something to do on a daily basis so I started making photos using things we found around the home/farm.

These are some of those photos from that series.

Storyteller. Memory maker. Moment chaser 🫣

I’ve been a photographer for about twelve years and I have never once used any of those words to describe what I do.

And I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying this, but I think a lot of photographers using those words might be doing it because that’s what they’ve seen other family photographers do. I feel like they’ve also been buzz words for many years and we’re just holding onto them🤷🏻‍♀️ And look, I’m not here to tell anyone they’re wrong. I just never connected with those words myself. Like, what does it actually mean? Are you creating a story through your images? Are your clients asking you to tell their story? I genuinely don’t know, and I could never work out how to apply it to what I do. So I didn’t 💁🏻‍♀️

I know my clients aren’t booking a storyteller or wanting a story told through their photos. They just want solid photos of their family and THAT’s how I describe what I do 🙌🏼

No storytelling. No memory making. No moment chasing.

You know where to find me. Link in bio😘

Just wait… hear me out.

That’s not a dig at anyone who’s ever stood in front of my camera before. I don’t know your story. But I know enough about people and life itself to know that every family is messed up in some way. And I know that every single person I’m close enough to, to know the real version of them, has something going on in their family. A parent nobody talks to anymore. A huge sibling fight that’s never been resolved. A falling out over money or an inheritance that never really healed. And I’m no different - my family is exactly the same. We all just walk around assuming we’re the only family with the complicated bits, the difficult people and the stories nobody talks about, when actually that’s just what families are 💁🏻‍♀️
