The Cygnus loop, this is the combination of my recent veil crops, 2 panel mosaic.
Still for reasons I can’t completely describe I am not entirely happy with this edit, I struggled with making both panels match each other and I’m still confused by the lack of sharpness in the details.

Do I need to be more aggressive with culling nights of poorer seeing? Is the match of my scope to camera anything to explain it or am I too critical? Not sure, still learning and having fun but would be happy to hear some suggestions/criticism and advice/knowledge.

The Eastern Veil Nebula (NGC 6992), also known as Caldwell 33, is a prominent section of the larger Veil Nebula, a supernova remnant located in the Cygnus constellation, about 2,400 light-years from Earth. It is part of the Cygnus Loop, which consists of the remnants of a massive star that exploded 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. The nebula is composed of glowing, wispy filaments of gas and dust that are heated and ionized by the shockwaves from the stellar explosion, creating a spectacular celestial display.

This is another crop from a 2 panel mosaic taken over many nights the last couple of months.

Approx. 23hrs HOO including 1hr RGB stars.

I had some strange issues with my astro setup and was unable to save any video file so missed out getting a closer up more detailed image, still really happy to have something and to have witnessed it.

NGC6960
Really happy to have revisited this area this year, known as the witches broom or western veil nebula.
This is a pretty heavy crop for my setup, trying to understand if I am able to get more detail with my telescope/camera combo
Still really happy with the result, had to be taken over many nights dealing with weather and the slightly less than 2hr gap between my next door neighbours house and trees that block the view.

Approx. 23hrs HOO including 1hr RGB stars.

You all know we love night sky photgraphy, light pollution is a major issue and something we’re always trying to avoid, where we live we are lucky to have fairly dark skies and only need to travel an hour out of town to truly see the beauty above us.
This is very quickly changing due to modern city living and it’s not only an issue for photography.

Light pollution can cause several health issues by disrupting the body's circadian rhythm, which affects sleep and hormone production, leading to conditions such as sleep disorders, depression, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and an increased risk of certain cancers, including breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers. It also suppresses melatonin, a hormone crucial for immune function and cancer prevention.

We would be over the moon if you could take a minute to sign the petition linked here. 🌔

A second edit on my recent Fighting Dragons of Ara or NGC6188 in a different colour palette

It’s pretty cool how much it can change the image and what details are brought out by different assigning filters to different colours.

M16 the Eagle nebula
One of those iconic areas in space that I’d love to zoom in on, so many interesting parts to see.

Still struggling with the editing process even with much better data this year, what I see on screen on the pc vs what I get after exporting regularly has me going back, changing things I thought were good, so much depth regularly seems to be lost through compression.

I always enjoy the process, it’s amazing what you can do, experimenting with colour and processes

Continuing my obsession with narrowband this year this image is 38hrs SHO including 1hr or RGB for stars over many weather/cloud interrupted nights.

Revisiting the target that started my obsession with deep sky astrophotography.

After taking our first milky way pic with an iphone while camping we bought a camera and were hooked.
Now even further down the rabbit hole with the dedicated Astro camera and somewhat permanent backyard setup I am stoked to show this pic, my largest project yet.

I really love this reflection of the trestle bridge. This shot was taken more for the foreground than the sky, hoping to get Tim to replace the sky with a Milky Way shot that we will hopefully take soon.
But had to share for the foreground cause its so pretty!

NGC 3372 The Carina nebula, this was the first deep sky target I captured in May 2024 with my mirrorless camera and my then new telescope.
Now with many more hours of learning and $ on more specialised gear and this is my 2025 result, still much more to learn but so much fun along the way.
