Happy International Dog day!

I know my life wouldn't be as full as it is today without my loyal canine companions. The unconditional love of a dog makes the world a better place ❤🐕

Hopefully you can all find a little extra time yo spend with your dogs today.

I hope you enjoy some of my recent images that I've snapped of my dogs while participating in the current unleashed Embark challenge.

Shout out to help us raise funds for Cancer research 😊

My husband Joe and I have been accepted to participate in the 2023 summer Sh*tbox rally. This rally is from Rockhampton QLD to Hobart TAS. You can follow our rally journey and read about why we are participating on our page www.facebook.com/JosJalopy2023Sh*tboxRally

Box Rally's are all about raising funds for cancer research through the Cancer Council. Sh*tbox rally's are a challenge to drive a $1500 car across some of the most formidable roads across Australia. All cars must be 2WD which only adds to the excitement.

The routes are a mixture of sealed and unsealed, usually taking the most scenic route to the destination. The rally takes place over 7 days with the cars being auctioned off at the end with all proceeds being donated to the Cancer Council.

Each team must raise $5000 in the lead up to their rally. Any money raised over and above the $5000 is a bonus and helps boost the total funds raised for the Cancer Council.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible. All online donations will be emailed a tax receipt automatically after the donation is made. Cash and cheque donations can also be made directly to teams and a tax invoice will be issued by the Cancer Council. The link to our fundraising page is in the bio.

Businesses and individuals can also sponsor rally teams which in turn puts their logo on our car and they will be listed on our We Give fundraising page so all that visit know who our sponsors are. We will also promote sponsors along our journey via social media and at any other opportunity we get!

If you are unsure about donating, sponsoring or you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We look forward to sharing our journey with you.

It's time to interrupt your regular viewing program of dog photos for some variety...

Lately I've been walking Mellow of an evening and we go and visit the poddy sheep. It's good practice for her to learn to walk on a lead and tie up in different places.

This guy pictured here has been a firm favourite of mine since he was brought in as a lamb in 2017.

For me, there's nothing better than sitting with my animals and watching the sunset. Or taking photos of them at sunsets as the case may be here 😁.

Happy Friday everyone!

Dreaming of warmer days....

As the sun set when I was taking this photo it created the round sun flare that you can see. While sun flare is not always welcome in images, I fell in love with this particular image.

The yellow of the sun and the sun flare give it this warm feeling. Which I can tell you, it certainly wasn't warm the day I took this last week!

I've always been more of a summer person. For me, this image reminds me that even in the depths of winter there are glimpses that the cold will pass and that the warm weather will return once again 🌞.

There's no secret that I love my animals. So with or without colour they are the rainbow(s) in my cloud(s).

This image was also taken as part of my first .ed Embark challenge, Colouriffic. While this wasn't the image I ended up submitting to the challenge, I still fell in love with it.

I've always loved bright colours in all aspects of my life. When I was little I had a pair of hot pink leggings that I absolutely loved! Mum used to call me lolly legs when I was wearing them.

So I guess this image is a favorite of mine because it combines two of my greatest loves in life, dogs and colour!

How has someone (or pet) been the rainbow in your clouds lately?

Oh Miss Mellow, you really do know how to goof off...

This photoshoot went a little like this...

𝕄𝕖: now that you're lying down, can you look at the camera please

𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: umm, that's optional right? Oh look another dog....

𝕄𝕖: Mellow, come back here please

𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: Sure thing (flops down in my face as I'm lying in the grass)

𝕄𝕖: Thanks Mellow, you stink you know that right? (She had rolled in something pretty smelly)

𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: Yup but you lurrrrrve me 😇

𝕄𝕖: Yeah ok, now you stay while I move back

𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: OK 👍 (proceeds to roll over and face away..)

𝕄𝕖: ohhh Mellow... I have a treat for you

𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: (ears prick, rolls back over) mmmm hmmm you have my attention (pretty sure her little paws were crossed behind her back at this point)

𝕄𝕖: Right, you lie there and look cute, I'll just snap a quick picture. Then you can have said 'treat'

𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: I'm ready for my close up!

Cue funny faces and ridiculous poses for the next 5 to 10 minutes.

Bloopers are an inevitable part of photographing anything capable of thinking for itself. While they may not be the "picture perfect" photos that you, as the phorographer, or the client had in mind they often show a 100% authentic version of the pet (or person or whatever it may be you're photographing).

I actually love this photo of Mellow as it shows her quirky, fun loving side beautifully.

This was an image I took as part of the unleashed education embark challenge that I'm currently undertaking. It's been a great kick in the backside to getting myself out and shooting again and looking at things from a different perspective.

"Details create the big picture" - Sanford I. Weill

When out taking photos, I frequently find myself focusing on small details or random quirks in the view finder that catch my attention.

Many people like images of the whole subject and while I totally agree, often their is deeper meaning to be found in the details.

If you would like to capture the details of your four legged friend (and yourself if you like), DM me. I'm more than happy to help you out 😊

On Friday of the Easter weekend I headed into Tooraweenah to pick up some prawns as a surprise for my Dad. While I was in town I took the opportunity to take some photos at the Team Roping event at the show grounds.

I am no stranger to horses and horse sports but I've never attended a team roping event. The event ran like a well oiled machine and is a credit to the organisers and competitors. The kids that were competing will be ones to watch out for in the future as they have some serious horse riding and roping skills. Hopefully I will be back for future events.

If you're running an equine or Iivestock event and are looking for someone to capture it, send me a DM for more information. I'm happy out packages to suit different budgets and requirements.

If there is interest I can put up the whole gallery from the weekend. High resolution images are available to purchase upon request.

*please do not screenshot or crop images and repost. All images are low resolution.

Look into my eyes (and hurry up!)

When you're waiting for mum to hurry up and take the damn picture! This is the look I frequently get from my pets if I'm trying to get them to sit/stay somewhere for longer than the treat was worth.

How do your kids/pets/friends deal with you taking photos? Are you a quick, candid photo taker or do you like to pose them and take your time setting up the "shot"?

Either way, make sure you take the time this Easter weekend to enjoy your time with family and friends making memories. And just take the photo! The opportunity may not come around again.

Everyone loves a good bit of merch these days and Tom was no exception. Being just down the road from the Collie hotel it's not surprising that they regularly frequent the pub (pre covid anyway).

The cap was a bit of a standing joke by the end of the shoot and features in almost every photo. However, it wasn't until the end of the shoot I noticed the shorts!

Thanks again Sam and Tom for being so much fun to work with 😊
