Oh Miss Mellow, you really do know how to goof off...
This photoshoot went a little like this...
𝕄𝕖: now that you're lying down, can you look at the camera please
𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: umm, that's optional right? Oh look another dog....
𝕄𝕖: Mellow, come back here please
𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: Sure thing (flops down in my face as I'm lying in the grass)
𝕄𝕖: Thanks Mellow, you stink you know that right? (She had rolled in something pretty smelly)
𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: Yup but you lurrrrrve me 😇
𝕄𝕖: Yeah ok, now you stay while I move back
𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: OK 👍 (proceeds to roll over and face away..)
𝕄𝕖: ohhh Mellow... I have a treat for you
𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: (ears prick, rolls back over) mmmm hmmm you have my attention (pretty sure her little paws were crossed behind her back at this point)
𝕄𝕖: Right, you lie there and look cute, I'll just snap a quick picture. Then you can have said 'treat'
𝕄𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨: I'm ready for my close up!
Cue funny faces and ridiculous poses for the next 5 to 10 minutes.
Bloopers are an inevitable part of photographing anything capable of thinking for itself. While they may not be the "picture perfect" photos that you, as the phorographer, or the client had in mind they often show a 100% authentic version of the pet (or person or whatever it may be you're photographing).
I actually love this photo of Mellow as it shows her quirky, fun loving side beautifully.
This was an image I took as part of the unleashed education embark challenge that I'm currently undertaking. It's been a great kick in the backside to getting myself out and shooting again and looking at things from a different perspective.
