This little business started 6 years ago this month... and what an incredible ride it's been. I've met countless couples and families, worked alongside incredible people, witnessed some life-changing moments and captured memories that I hope will last a lifetime.

A year ago my focus shifted, as I worked on growing my other business Sister Scout Studio. Now, I am primarily a branding and headshot photographer, and I work normal hours, mid-week. It's been really good for me as a Mum and a person to have my weekends (largely) back, and to be able to spend my weekends with my own family.

So it is with some sadness and lots of wistful nostalgia that I close the doors on this chapter of my photography career (for now).

I don't know if I will return to photographing families or weddings in the future. What I do know is that I will always love capturing people and light, and helping tell stories that matter.

I had one of those intense Mama moments that stop you in your tracks yesterday. My dear wee Max had a sudden fever and as a result, a febrile convulsion.
It was really horrible to see him limp, unable to respond and going pale and blue in his lips.
Luckily we had some friends who are incredibly skilled nurses where we were, and they came and made sure he was safe and still able to breathe.
Once he came to we were taken to hospital by ambulance (a first for Max and me), where we waited to see if he would have any further convulsions.
Of course, some panadol and maccas fries later and he was tearing around the emergency department singing, running, giggling and being his cheeky self.
Watching him so helpless, his body shutting down to bring the fever down, it was one of those moments where I was reminded by just how thin a thread all our lives are held.
It’s something I know is true and in some ways, my whole reason for pursuing photography is tied up in this understanding: life is short and precious, honour it. Preserve your memories. Hold close those whom you love.
So glad Max is here today and was able to fly to Queensland for our family holiday. And ^exhale^.
