One of those classic Sydney views at night. A quick walk across the bridge to this spot is always worthwhile! Unfortunately large panoramic photos are always so hard to display on social media, but I'll upload this to my site soon for better viewing. Link in my bio 🙂 swipe 👉

Always love visiting Sydney, and capturing the opera house and bridge never gets old. I'd hoped to nab the full moon but unfortunately the day we got there we had nothing but cloud and so I had to settle for the almost full moon rising over the Opera house a couple of days later. Used an exposure blend to get the moon details to come out with my Tamrom zoom lens.

Another clear night meant I had to have another go with my telescope. This time I pointed towards the Orion nebula (m42). This is a stellar nursery 1,300 light years away, meaning we're seeing baby stars being born as they were in the 8th century! It's a bright nebula that can be seen easily in the night sky and couldn't be happier with how this came out for my first attempt at capturing it 👌🌟🌌 🔭

Putting my new 3 through its paces, and couldn't be more happy with the results I've been getting! This Rosette Nebula (NGC 2237) was taken over 2 nights, trialling the different in built filters the scope comes with. The Rosette is a massive emission nebula and stellar nursery located about 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros. Spanning 100 light-years across, it is known for its floral shape and intense red glow, caused by young, massive stars in the central cluster exciting surrounding hydrogen gas. Space is so beautiful, I can't wait to see what else I can capture with this scope!

All day yesterday alerts were going off that the biggest aurora in 30 years might happen. Whilst here in the southern hemisphere we missed the biggest part of the show, as it hit while it was day time, we were still lucky enough to witness a pretty major storm with huge naked eye beams. Just so happened to have coincided with my birthday - not a bad way to see it in either watching the aurora dance as the clock ticked past midnight 💃🌌🎂
Also nice to hang out with some other aurora chasers - .photoarth.photography cheers for the fine company.

Nice surprise to be told I'd won this year's best photograph 🙏 this is one of my absolute favourite photos I've ever taken and was quite the process to capture so I'm very glad the judges also enjoyed it 😊
