Honestly, I have been kind of lazy when I comes to learning all the modes and features on my .

It’s a seriously powerful drone with an amazing camera. But I’ve primarily used it to chase surfers moving fast on waves. The sunset was popping through the clouds over Copa and I went for a fly… not really expecting to capture anything different. But then I saw potential in a super cropped frame while I was pointing straight back into the sun (also something I generally avoid if I can!)

I switched over to 6x mode and got a completely different shot. I think I need to switch focal length more often!

You don’t know if you don’t go!

I woke up, looked at the cams, looks at the overcast sky out my window and ALMOST rolled over and slept in. But something sparked me to get outta bed….

Surf was a bit lumpy and small but THE LIGHT ✨ was just turning ON when I pulled up to Avoca. I ran down the access like an excited little kid and these are some of the frames I got. As you know, a silhouette is a fav of mine and today it looked pretty sick out through the pines at Avoca.

Some good times had over the colder months. Crisp mornings, south swells and a short film submitted!

Moody morning over Forries.

Coupla toobs capture from the air. I bit the bullet and upgraded from my Mini 4 pro to the Mavic 4 Pro and honestly that thing is a beast for tracking waves and surfers. It goes so fast and take a crispy image.

Controller got an upgrade too with the built in screen. Do NOT miss having to plug in the phone.

Canon ANZ lent me some gear. I played around with their BEAST 200-800mm. Surf went kind of dead whilst I had their kit which was a bummer but I got some shots!

Crispy mornings down at the local.

I’m realising I spend too much money on gear! But this one was a long time coming. I’d shot for almost 2 years just on my 35mm prime (which is still my absolute favourite). But I upgraded my AQUATECH kit to get my 24-105mm lens inside which is so versatile in the water. But it’s a BIG surface of plastic to keep the water droplets off. An ongoing battle!

Harry Crosley and I signed up at Age Managers down at for our eldest’s first season of nippers. Big learning curve having not done nippers myself but getting stuck in and giving it a go!

Submitted my first ever short surf film for Waves of Winter. Chased Harry around all winter trying to be in the spot at the right time, stack some clips, tell a unique story and have a bit of fun while we’re at it.

Bloody keen to see what some of the other creative talent had thrown together over the winter. I’m pretty new to shooting surf so brining my own style and interpretation to it 🤙🏻

My SALTY SESSIONS aren’t just for the hardcore surfers!

This was a super fun session someone booked as a wedding gift and it was SO FUN. They woke up early, travelled a decent distance for it, got dressed up and we had a heap of fun.

This is where my worlds collide, my love of the ocean and shooting in the water and photographing people and capturing unique and personal moments.

Helmets in the surf… yeh or nah?

It’s a big yeh from me. I’m generally sitting right in the path of the waves and the surfers. Also my camera is a rock hard lump that when I get rolled can become a bit of a hazard. So this keeps the noggin safe.
