Papapa & Mamama

Today I’d like to share little bit about what inspires me.

I believe that Love comes in many ways and forms, but never have I seen a greatest and most powerful example of love than that of my grandparents.

Not only in the way they were together for over 60 years, the way they never missed an anniversary. The way my papapa would walk to the store even into old age just to buy mamama a romantic card and personalize it so that it would fit exactly right. The way mamama would make sure that we were NEVER out of Chip’s Ahoy in the pantry because that was my grandpa’s favorite cookie.

The way she stood by him when his mind started to fail, how she stood stronger than ever.

But also the way they touched other people’s lives, both individually and as a couple. The way they would give everything for their family, their family’s family, their friends, their friend’s friends…

The way they would help each other grow, support each other on whatever it was that they came up with next.

Because the most important thing they had was this: the willingness to choose each other every single day.

And I strongly believe that this is the “secret” of love. To find someone and make a conscious decision to stand by each other and then live by it until it becomes as natural as breathing. To never lose sight of what really matters and put it at the top of your priority list, because at the end of the day, it’s all you’ll ever need.

Wether it be your romantic partner, your family, your best friend, your pet, or even yourself, I urge you to always choose love. Choose love over pride, love over chasing the highs in life, choose love over everything else.

It’s how they would have wanted us to live ✨

Love is not easy to find and you’ve done it. That alone is more than enough reason to celebrate.

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much while at work before.

To find someone around who you can be truly and unapologetically yourself. That alone is enough reason to celebrate.

I wish these two and their families all the happiness in the world, although it seems to me that they already have it ✨🤍

Sooo… I have quite a story about these photos 🫣😅

Sebas & Cata had their pre wedding session at San Bartolo, my home town. When we were on the pier, I squatted in order to get a lower angle and I just felt my phone slipping from my pocket. It bounced on every possible rock and once I heard the “gulp” I knew that all was lost 🌊

All three of us stood staring down at the water and we actually saw the phone lying there between some rocks! Some people came over to try and help. One of them even offered to “call me so I could find it sooner” 😂 I wanted to count my losses and continue with the shoot, but they insisted that I take my time and try to recover it.

And I did!! I managed to find it and fish it out of the water. Good as new 🎉 Let the shooting go on.

Well… I celebrated a little too soon. See, what I didn’t realize is that when I went in to get my phone, somehow my house keys were lost in the process 🤦‍♀️

So I had no way of getting into my home, where the bride and groom had left their bags, my dog was inside and my phone was fighting for it’s life against nearly drowning. To top things off, there has been an accident on the main road and my mom (the only one who had a spare key) couldn’t pass to come from Lima 😩

Well, as any good Peruvian would, I decided to try and laugh it off and trust that somehow it would get sorted out. With the help of the police and some neighbors I had to BREAK INTO MY OWN HOME in order to open the door. Grabbed my dog and swore to never let him out of my sight again for the rest of the day, gave the couple their stuff back and backed up the files (feeling like I should probably prepare for anything at that point).

Later that day I decided to go free diving, as I usually did, with just this sort of feeling. Will you believe me when I say I found my keys?? 🤯

It was truly a roller coaster of emotions, but it all worked out in the end. Sebas & Cata were super nice and she even took photos of me looking for my phone in the water 😂 I was overall happy with the results and the fact that everything somehow got resolved. I’m still using that phone to this day!! good job!

That is what you want to be on your wedding day: simply and irrevocably happy.

You want to feel calm, safe, heard; so that you can be free to enjoy as much as you deserve. Surround yourself by people who make you feel this way: friends, family, suppliers, officiant, wedding planner, photographer. We are all here today to honor your special day as a couple.

This is my advice for you today because I want to see you smiling on your wedding day. I want to see tears of joy, not stress.

What I capture in my photos is real, raw emotion. You deserve to be with people who will go out of their way to make this day perfect. And I promise, I’m one of them!
