it takes a long time to get anywhere in istanbul, türkiye…

because on every corner there is a sweet cat just waiting to be greeted. these cute felines are as part of the fabric of the city as the blue mosque, the bosporus, hagia sofia and the fishermen.

the city of cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 is home to many in all shapes and sizes. you’ll often find they have their own specific spots they like to hang out day in day out.

which cat would you be saying hello to?

a thirty minute boat ride to secure a real french croissant? 🥐

as a pain au chocolat connoisseur and with france just spitting distance of the island of jersey it only seemed right, one sunday morning, to take the thirty minute rib trip to the town of carteret with in tow.

whilst there we explored the headland and had lunch whilst exploring the cute french harbour town.

you can book regular trips from  to carteret in  with

we stopped by on the way to the boat for the best coffee in jersey.

how much do you love croissants?

one of the best experiences in albania but how easy is it?

the valbonë to theth hike, or possible in reverse but the ascent from valbonë is steeper so likely better coming up than down it.

you are ascending and descending mountains so it is slightly challenging. i did this during melting season when the summer track was not fully opened due to ice (as you’ll see). this meant that you are advised to go a slightly different route, however it it poorly marked and confusing.

i checked with the owners of the homestay i was at the night before and got the correct pins on my map. as you’ll see i still went wrong but managed to correct myself.

i wore normal trainers, but hiking shoes would have been better, and found a stick but poles are recommended.

the descent to theth was very easy so if you just want to go to the pass you can do from theth and back.

you leave your luggage if shkodër and just take what you can carry as you do not return to valbona.

there is also the option to do with a local guide.
would you do this?

ps shout out to my two irish hiking buddies! ( and hannah)
