NZ Trip December 2023.
Milford Sound, Mirror Lakes, Bowen Falls, Make Lake, Doubtful Sound and Lake Gunn.

When exploring Fiordland National Park, Milford Sound is undoubtedly a must-see destination. However, for a more intimate and in-depth experience, I highly recommend basing yourself in Te Anau. From there, embark on a Fiordland Tours trip. These small group tours offer the advantage of more stops along the journey and access to areas inaccessible to larger coaches departing from Queenstown.

For those seeking a break from the tourist hustle and bustle in Queenstown, Moke Lake is just a short drive from the town centre, and offers breathtaking scenery, especially on a still day.

NZ Trip December 2023.
Doubtful Sound, Hokitika Gorge and Barry the Van.

I would highly recommend going to Doubtful Sound when exploring Fiordland National Park. .newzealand do a day trip from Te Anau.
The second recommendation is that has a great range of camper vans for hire and our experience with Barry the Van was amazing.

There is something about escaping into the backcountry to find a serene creek in the wilderness, a moment of reflection becomes inevitable. The backcountry reminds us that even amidst the difficult balancing acts and hard slogs of life, the journey and experience hold immense beauty and worth.

Snowy mountains, suspension bridges, and camping in the snow with the old man. Beats a European summer any day.

Three Capes Track and Mt Wellington

Day 4 of the walk included walking out to the end of Cape Hauy and seeing the Totem Pole, a phenomenal thin piece of rock that sticks up out of the ocean. The second photo is looking back towards Fortescue Bay and the end of the walk.
The last image is from the top of the iconic Mt Wellington looking down towards Hobart. In October when we visited there was snow at the top which tells you how cold it can be up there.

That is all of Tasmania photos that I am going to post, at least for now.

Three Capes Tracks

More photos from day 3 and 4 of the walk. Lots of amazing cliffs and blue sea. A highlight of day 4 was seeing the Totem Pole from the end of Cape Hauy.
The last photos was taken looking down the Neck towards Bruny Island where we retreated to relax after the walk before returning home.

Three Capes Track

As the sun sets on day three of the walk after walking 19km playing cards and drinking rum, taking in the warmth from those last rays of sun. Day 4 was spent walking towards Cape Hauy walking along the tops of the sea cliffs with too many opportunities to take in the amazing vistas. The last image shows Cape Pillar in the background where we had walked from the day before.
