The Australian sailing community is mourning the passing of Gordon Ingate OAM, who died on 24 April at the age of 100

I was so lucky to have a portrait session with Gordon. I once offered to help him up from the lounge: he looked at me, smiled and said: thank you young man (i was almost half his age) but when you leave in 1hr i will have to get up by myself - I got this....and he sure did.

Exciting times ahead. On May 7th I will be opening my second Italian solo exhibition in Rome at SU Arte Gallery. On display for the first time will be my series “Not All Treasures Are Seen” — a mix of nudes, flowers and handmade gold leaf images — alongside my series “My First School”. 2nd place PHI Awards - architecture - for a series of colorful images i shot in Venice late last year.

Venice, possibly the most photographed city on Earth, clearly didn’t get the memo about subtlety. In this series, the colours steal the show—loud, unapologetic, and occasionally behaving like they’ve had a spritz too many. Pink walls flirt with turquoise canals, while laundry lines add their own fashion critique. Forget muted tones—Venice is a full-blown colour riot. These images turn the familiar into something cheeky and fresh, proving that even in a city photographed to death, there’s always room to crank up the saturation and surprise.

The inaugural Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club classic regatta brought over 60 beautiful boats together on Sydney Harbour for a truly spectacular day of champagne sailing. Hosted by Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club, it was a celebration of tradition, camaraderie, and timeless style. Gleaming timber decks, crisp sails, and big smiles all around—where friendly competition met pure joy. With a perfect breeze and stunning harbour backdrop, it felt less like racing and more like a floating festival of passion for sailing.

You know that expression about people being like onions? The more you peel back the layers, the more you discover who they really are. Well, Toni was exactly that. A tough little pocket rocket walked into my apartment, scanned the photos on the walls like they were judging an art prize, then—boom—a radiant smile. Completely disarming. Just like that, the layers started slipping away. It’s amazing what happens when someone feels safe enough to just be themselves. The guard drops, the real personality steps forward, and suddenly you’re witnessing something genuine. Honestly, it was an absolute pleasure to watch unfold.

“No, I don’t think so.”
“Yes I have—friend lived downstairs years ago.”

And that was Donna Sturgeon… five seconds through the door, already deep into Season 3 of her life story. Conversations with her don’t start—they begin at the creation of the universe and slowly work their way forward. Somewhere between dinosaurs and dial-up internet, you finally find the point.

Too funny, because my partner does the same—except I give her five seconds before issuing a gentle “land the plane.”

That said, I love it. People who tell stories like that aren’t wasting time—they’re enjoying every scenic detour.

You know when you click with someone the moment you meet? When you just know you can tease them because you’re clearly on the same page? That was me and Bear Chris.

This is the kind of portrait that quietly says, “I’ve seen things… and I’ve got a badge for each one.” The jacket alone looks like it’s achieved more in life than most people. It’s one patch away from running the country.

Bear wears it all with calm authority, adjusting the glasses like they’re about to deliver a perfectly timed comeback—and you just know it’ll land.

Tiffany is one of those rare people who treats words like they’re on a tight budget—no waste, straight to the point. When it came time for her portrait, she sat down and calmly told me exactly what she wanted. No guessing, no mind reading—refreshing and slightly unsettling. A novelty for me, but a cool one. Of course, we also explored my ideas, because I like to feel useful. In the end, it became what I call a proper collaboration… with excellent time management skills.

Great to see my image of St. Mark’s Square in Venice hanging proudly in Greece. It even won a Street Life competition, which is ironic because I took it while doing absolutely nothing… just waiting outside a shop. My partner was inside, happily browsing with intent, while I was outside, pretending to be patient but actually just shooting and telling her 'honey take your time, it's your holiday too'. She came out empty handed - thank God for our bank account - and i had a couple of cool shots.
