“Who we are, is a direct reflection of who we were, what we’ve survived, experienced and accomplished.”

Don’t let the darkness in our pasts, s***f the lights of our futures.

There are always options for how to feel. You might not be able to control which options, but they are there.

You can look at the sky, and think “ugghh, overcast again”, but the best sunrises ands sunsets have a sky littered with clouds.

You get to choose how you feel about it.

So choose well.

Photography is a matter of moments. A matter of being able to hold a moment alive for far longer than that of the moment itself.

It’s a moment you can share not just with anyone you may be with, but more importantly with those who you are not with.

Alright, Jersey Caramel and Grants Whiskey the verdict.

Well the solids are like having an alcoholic sugar syrup. With everything that is sweet and burning that goes with it.

The liquid though… The scent of the caramel overrides the scent of the scotch (once in the glass). If you swallow it quick, you get the sweet aftertaste of a lightly infused caramel syrup.

But…

If you let it sit a moment on the tongue, you instead get a strong jersey caramel flavor really coming through on the palate.

And I can tell you, it’s fu***ng delicious!

One of the best pieces of advice I got from my father was,
“You will starve if you only feed off the positive. You need to learn how to do the same of the negative.”

I don’t know why that’s stuck in my head all these years (maybe because he was such a good provider of negativity for me), but it’s true. If you look at the amount of people who DO NOT have you back you are grossly outnumbered.

Everyone who says “you’re not good enough to do that”. Feed of that. Everyone who tells you that “you will fail, why even try”. Feed off that. Everyone who trolls you and bullies you and belittles you. Take it in and feed off that.

Because when you do what they you can’t, when you succeed at what they say you will fail at, when you stand up in the face of their actions unperturbed…

Your negative army, all the haters, the naysayers, the bullies and the trolls, they will all shut up of their own accord.

You just need to feed.

So you would’ve seen the post the other day with my violet crumble infused whisky getting going.

Well I didn’t need a week, (don’t ask about the Jersey caramels cause they were ready after 24 hours, I just haven’t sampled them yet) and well there’s no honeycomb in them.

Can’t even taste it even. What you can taste is the chocolate. But it’s an aftertaste of dark chocolate.

It holds to the back of the top of your mouth and sits there like a soft caress of your tonsils.

It was 2 degrees, the wind chill brought it to -2 degree’s.

But you need to push through your suffering, push through the mental blocks that YOU create before you stand a chance of reaching your goals.

It’s been 18 hours since this photo, and as I sit here in the midst of a software deployment for work, biding time so that I can get back to bed, I know that in just a few hours, I’ll be up and going again.
