Crossing Borders
It was a memorable time, seeing people moving freely from east to west and vice versa. It was all part of the process that led to the reunification of Germany. Not an easy task considering the size of the country and economic disparity of the two sides. With all the difficulty we can say that has been a great achievement for the German people. They have managed to peacefully unite the country.

Post-1989 the wall was slowly dismantled. The vast area of Berlin was going under a radical transformation the process of clearing all the mines and obstacle form the dead zone created a space of reflection for some people while making it a dangerous but fun playground for kids escaping the usual parks. A man seating on an old wall capping once used to prevent people from climbing and escaping, now functioning as a comfortable place where to evade the newly acquired freedom

The unification has changed many places rendering some area unrecognisable and in some reversed the morphology of the territory. Where once the wall was standing creating those separations there is now whole lots of changes are now the void has been filled there are many different points of view. The wall ran parallel and meet nearby the St. Thomas Church, built-in 1869 at Mariannenpl, in the Kreuzberg district.
There is a deep perspective that coverage the old lines with those memories within, once you look closer at pixel level the image reveal those marks left by the soul before me. Somewhere you could read “I Was Here”

The Brandenburg Gate is an 18th-century neoclassical monument situated in Berlin Mitte. It was built on the orders of Prussian king Frederick William II after the Batavian Revolution. The monument was used for major historical events, later survived wars and difficult political times to became today an iconic symbol of peace and unity

During my residence in Berlin between I had the chance of cycling around the wall and photograph different areas of the city. Kreuzberg was one of my prefered area Home to students, artists, migrants with many laid-back cafes and lots of street art. The leafy shaded parks and canal attracted walkers and cyclists

The political and religious movement were and are still alive in Berlin. The wall tags and graffiti were one of many ways to communicate all kind messages including the one on the left “ Osho Ja! Free State”
In my exhibition titled Borderlines, there is a dedicated selection of Wallscapes showing some of Berlin wall aspect in daily life

Hello Berlin! I was so enchanted by the spirit of Berlin. The arts the music and everything else was living and thriving within and outside the wall. My love for street art started there where many artists left their mark and over imposed on layers and layers of creativity, ideas, and dreams. Is anyone out there know this artist?

Photo archiving and ongoing preservation of analog images is a laborious process that brings great satisfaction
Although I have lost some pics on the way I manage to keep and print some hero. Great memory still lives on film but mostly in my heart. 30th years later remember been a wet day and my Nikon F3HP wet and not missing a click!

OTG in 1961 construction of the Wall began from few bricks to a complex concrete barrier that divided physically and ideologically Berlin untill 1989. This also an important reminder to commemorate all the people that have sacrifice their life for freedom. This year to commemorate the 30th annyversay of the fall of the Berlin Wall and I have had the honour to be part of the installation of an original section of the wall at Goethe Institute in Sydney in with a photographic exhibition
