Nataly Thomson Photography Down-to-earth Sydney photographer capturing real moments and your best angles. Individual, family, maternity, newborn, and events.

I love to capture the beauty of the world and big and little things that I find marvellous. I love people, sea and mountains. I also love diversity and different cultures.

And the last part 3! Not sure what else to say, but make sure you scroll at least to the 3rd slide! I love, love, love these cute details. 🤍

I can totally envision how their little one will ask them one day: “Did you make a love heart because you love me?”

“Oh yes dear, before your eyes saw the light of the world, we loved you more than anything.”
Tell me I’m not the only one getting teary-eyed over here! 🥹

Forgive me, I became extra sentimental after becoming a mum, so if all the lovey-dovey talk isn’t your thing, feel free to just look at the photos! 🙈 (Though please drop a comment with your favorite! It helps me grow as a photographer and helps wake up my Instagram to wake up a bit after I went MIA for a bit 🙄).

I told them to just be, and they completely understood the assignment. Honestly, the whole time I felt like I was shooting for a high-fashion magazine. Even the birds played along, it felt so symbolic! 🕊️

They are entering this wildly beautiful, challenging new stage of life, full of joy and hurdles, and they are welcoming it with open arms. 🤍

Be honest: Would you wake up at 4:30 AM for photos like this, or are you strictly a sunset lover? 🌅

Sydney sunrises are magic. Waking up at 4:30 AM is painful, but almost every time, it is worth every single lost second of sleep. (Ps winter sunrises are later btw 😉)

While you think about whether you’d sacrifice a bit of sleep (and don’t forget to drop your answer in the comments!), brace yourselves: I’m completely obsessed with this shoot!

These gorgeous two are holding their little one in their arms right now, and I’m finally getting around to sharing their sunrise session with you.

Algorithm experts will tell you not to split a single shoot into three posts, but honestly? I’m a photographer first and a marketer second, and these images deserve their own room to breathe.

One day, you look down and realise they don’t fit in the baby bath anymore. The sticky fingers disappear, the annoying crumbs everywhere fade away, the toddler glasses get replaced, and the chaos gets a little bit quieter.

Eventually, we will forget all the stress, the worry, and how hard it was to just survive the day in the moment. But we will remember these moments... together... the fun and the random. We will look at that photograph in the frame and smile.

Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment -when you lose the weight, when you finish the house reno, or when life feels less busy. Right now, exactly as you are, is a precious part of their childhood years.

Capture these moments and details! And if you need help holding onto them, I’m here. I truly love saving these moments for your family. 🤍

It might be getting chilly outside (here in Sydney). Let’s fast-forward to warm sun, sticky fingers, and backyard splashes. A summer-themed shoot to warm you up (or at least fill you with anticipation for the warmer months!).

📌 Save this post for your next family photo mood board!

Which slide made you smile the most? (The grand finale on slide 8-9 is my personal favourite 😂💦)

The «Midday Sun».
What is the best light to shoot in? Hands down, near sunset and sunrise – whith that soft, gentle light, glowing tones, and the most flattering shadows – it’s every photographer’s dream.

But midday? Especially in Sydney? That is a completely different story. It is harsh, inflexible, and incredibly hard to tame.

The reality of running a photography business is that sometimes our guests’ schedules don’t leave us much choice. We have to make it work.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous for this shoot. Taking a couple to the Sydney Opera House with the sun blasting directly overhead truly put all my skills to the test. There was nowhere to hide, no soft clouds to save us – just raw, unforgiving light.

What do you think... did I deliver?

Swipe through to see how we tamed the Sydney sun.

“Better no posts at all than random posts now and then for the Insta algorithms” – I’ve been told recently.

Oops. 😅

I guess I am screwed then! Please comment something below - let’s keep this page alive! I have so many awesome shoots to share with you, but last month ended up being a bit too busy to even catch my breath. I’m honestly so glad my work gives me this much joy!

Just look at these beautiful girls! We had so many laughs during our shoot. I swear, a city session is such a cool way to spend time together – whether it’s to celebrate a birthday, a bachelorette party, or just because.

Which shot would you love to repeat with your girlies?
