Today I was at my kids school for Open Classroom Day.
In one of the classrooms, the kids read aloud a short paragraph about how important it is not to give up and it made me think.
As kids we are taught in the classroom and books about values and being a good friend and things like not giving up.
I remember as a kid I soaked all of this in and did my best to be a good kid - listen and respect my elders, be a good friend, do my best at whatever challenge life threw my way. Of course as a kid, my challenges were simple. Maybe it was doing a speech in front of a class, maybe it was sticking up for a friend in the playground, sometimes it was looking after my sister even though I wanted to do something else 🤣
But as we grow into adults, so much noise enters our lives. It's really easy to forget these simple lessons we learnt as kids. Sometimes we tell ourselves "it's too hard" and just give up. Sometimes the risk and uncertainty around trying something new overwhelms us.
Adulting is hard and can really suck. But I think if we take a breath and try to go back to basics, things don't seem so hard and we can move forward.
