2016: A smile hiding the pain.
2026: A smile excited for the future.
Somehow I look the same, but everything else has changed.
In 2016, I quit my corporate job — the “safe” path I’d worked years for.
Partly to care for my grandpa, who was terminal with lung cancer…
but also because the 9–5 was draining my soul.
I didn’t even tell friends or family I was quitting.
Growing up Asian in Australia, you’re taught: study hard, get a good job, don’t take risks.
But deep down… I knew that wasn’t my path.
So I asked myself:
How can I make money while being present for my grandpa?
That’s when I found freelancing — and photography.
No clients. No portfolio. Just me pouring everything into the craft.
And here I am 10 years later, still building this purely through word of mouth.
I look back now and cherish the time I got to spend with my grandpa… and the unexpected gift he gave me: the push toward my true calling.
Thank you to every client over the past decade who entrusted me to bring your vision to life — you’ve allowed me to live a rich and fulfilling life as a creative.
I’ve got some big things lined up this year as I start looking inward at the business and where I want to take it next.
Bring on 2026!
