Today was INSANELY good!!!! It was off the charts! Sooo much happened…
We had amazing muggings in the morning and the water was like glass! I literally had whales underneath my feet (as you’ll see here!) We had some incredible interactions, and we had dolphins with a baby. We had breaching, head-lunging, synchronised double head-lunge, pec slapping, tail throwing… we had it all! Then in the afternoon we found a happy-hippo whale that was gaping and munching water, opening and closing their mouth repeatedly, giving us a good look at their baleen plates! Never seen that before either! Absolutely incredible!
Was also great to have a professional drone operator onboard who got some incredible footage (go check out )
I’m speechless after today and I’m really not sure anything else could top it!!!

What a day!!! So many active pods in the Bay today!! At one stage we have 12 whales around the vicinity of the boat, in different directions but all really close by!
Here’s a special moment that 3 of them spyhopped together! 🩵🩵🩵

Scored the jackpot today!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🩵

My first day in Hervey Bay again today, and it did not disappoint!! We had a beautiful mugging from 3 beautiful big whales, relaxing and playfully interacting with each other and us!
Then we heard something incredible - this whale in front of me (conveniently at the time) started vocalising for a few seconds!!! I’ve left the sound on this one so you can experience what we did. I’m still in awe of this little interaction - and I’m sure he was saying “Come join me in the water- let’s play!” 😄

2 more sleeps until I head back to Hervey Bay to spend time with the whales again! So excited for some amazing close encounters and muggings (of the best kind!) and inquisitive interactions.
I’ve not shared any of my GoPro footage before - but here’s a clip from last year while sitting on the back step of the Blue Dolphin Marine Tours with whales at our feet. Check out this beautiful black-bellied whale - and if you look closely you’ll see about 7-8 remoras (or sucking fish) attached! What an incredible moment 🩵😊

Funky Hobart. . .
Whilst Hobart is rich in historic federation sandstone buildings, it does have a lot of modern architecture too. Strolling around one afternoon I came across this funky blue building, paired so well with the terracotta side laneway across the road! Banal street photography at its finest I’d say! Just loved it!🧡🩵

This time next week I’ll be on my way up north to spend time with the whales in Hervey Bay again!🐋🩵
I can’t wait for the muggings to begin and having some beautiful close interactions with these incredible creatures in the tropical waters of Queensland. . .
But until then, here’s a random collection from trips of late. . .
Whilst editing the last photo in this series, I thought the colours were off and wondered why it looked all funky - but it was on a sunset trip and then I realised it was the sunset sky reflecting on the whale’s flanks! 😍

Ancient Secrets 🌿🪾
