Beat the Blue began nine years ago when a small group of Highway Patrol officers volunteered their own time to create something different. Something that hadn’t really been done before. They wanted to create an opportunity to have meaningful and educative conversations with car enthusiasts.
Conversations that you have in person that can be honest and cut through what can’t go in media releases and other official means. Over the years Beat the Blue has done its best to advocate for both sides, knowing that the system will never be perfect but that it’s better to try and make it better than to just throw stones at those who try.
This year, some of our volunteers in their official capacity have had meaningful conversations with Transport for NSW’s Road Safety Regulation Technical Enquiries Team. Who are keen to attend our main event and give advice straight from the source, about Vehicle modifications and compliance, Vehicle inspections (AIS, AUVIS etc) and Certification pathways (including VSCCS).
This is your opportunity to ask the questions you want answered. Members of this team will be situated within the NSW Police Force engagement site on the dummy grid and have given the following written assurances – No enforcement activity or association with compliance operations, No collection or recording of attendee or vehicle details, and Open, informal conversations aimed at guidance and clarification. This was the exact reason Beat the Blue was started, to have these sometimes-difficult conversations, respectfully and with the right people.
We know this might not be popular with a lot of people, but we think it is a positive step.
