SAKURA SEASON 🌸

As we enter the Easter break my feed is flooded with sakura content. I’ve still only been to Japan once but I’m so ready to go back. We went hunting for the pink petals two years ago, and the forecast was unrelentingly incorrect.

BUT this was still one of my fondest trips, and as I look back on my images I realise we still managed to pack so much into about 4 actual days of cherry blossoms 👌

How to get over fomo of all the fun in Japan? Head off on another photo trip. A little closer to home for this weekend, but still pumped!

Have you been to Japan? 🇯🇵

Ouvéa, New Caledonia 🇳🇨

Part of the Loyalty Islands - the northern cluster of islands in NC, and the best example of a tropical paradise I’ve ever seen.

The best part, miles of coastline and no crowds 🏝️

I recently got back from a little photography escape to New Zealand with a good friend . It had been almost 10 years since I’d been to the South Island.

We went on a hunt for glacial rivers, and although we were a little unlucky with the weather, it was great fun to head off-road into some unsung valleys and nerd out with the camera gear.

It took about 4 days to see any unobstructed mountain peaks (or blue skies) so we had to delay our scenic plane flight over the Southern Alps, but it meant that when we did get up there, it was that much more rewarding.

Many photos taken, many drone batteries drained, (too) many Mint Treat packets (depending on who you ask). Can’t wait for the next 📸 trip

Lady aurora’s light show 💫

Everything came together last week on our first night in NZ. Given the almost constant rain and cloud cover for the rest of the week, it took a while for it to sink in just how lucky we were!

The aurora alerts started coming in before we took off, and due to the weather we had to change our plans when we got in and head straight to Lake Tekapo.

We got in as it was getting dark and clouds were still thick, but out of nowhere a wind blew through and cleared them almost fully, just in time for the show.

Given we hadn’t had chance to check out much of the area, the only place I remembered from last time was the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Sometime in the last 10 years since my last visit a fence has appeared around the church, but that didn’t stop us finding a great view with the dancing Aurora Australis lighting up the sky deep into the night, and the Milky Way framing the shot beautifully 😍

My only regret is not spending more time driving around the town filling up my memory card. Hindsight is everything. Regardless, what an experience!

Turtle heaven in New Caledonia 🐢

What a special way to spend the first day of 2026 - swimming with this guy and his mates. It was the first time we properly came across turtles whilst being in the water ourselves, and I immediately swam back to shore to grab my housing 📸

After this swim they just couldn’t stay away, with at least a dozen within arms length on our last day 😍

Alhambra

Built in the 13th and 14th centuries and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Insane architecture, couldn’t wrap my head around the intricacies of the details. And what a day to visit ☀️

Wineglass Bay 🍷

I knew I had to come back to this spot since when coming back to Tasmania - so beautiful. And definitely worth the (multiple) hikes!

See the last slide for the first time we were here in 2016

Hanging with friends on the other side of the 🌎

Unwinding in the summer heat of Valencia and Almeria was the perfect way to start the Spanish road trip this summer ❤️
