As hopes rise for a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran, several Republican lawmakers have voiced cautious optimism while continuing to criticize the Iranian regime.
Sen. Ron Johnson warned that a nuclear-armed Iran would represent a serious threat to U.S. security, expressing confidence that President Donald Trump can prevent such an outcome.
Rep. John James also welcomed the prospect of a deal, saying he was encouraged by ongoing developments and arguing that Trump’s pressure campaign played a key role in bringing Iran back to negotiations.
“President Trump is the president of peace, but he is also the president of strength,” James said, highlighting what supporters see as a strategy of diplomacy backed by firm resolve.
