At Home With Cassie and Mac.
A home, a family, a Friday morning.
This is the beginning of a project I’ve been quietly carrying for a while. Families inside houses they’ve turned into homes. The light, the timber, the small rituals. The way a house holds a life.
Two and a half years ago, Cassie and Mac moved into a strange, beautiful house on a bend. Cassie was pregnant, the rooms still full of someone else’s life. A Russian grand piano had stood where the pink couch sits now. (She dyed the couch herself.) Their son was born here, in the front of the living room, not long after.
The walls hold her mother’s paintings and her own photographs. Pieces from years of travelling sit on every surface. Mornings are cacao at the kitchen bench, watching the cars round the bends below. Free spirited, adventurous, devoted. That’s how she described them, and you feel it before she has to say it.
At Home With is an ongoing series within The Everyday Archive. If you’d love your family and your home to be featured, please reach out. I’d love to hear from you.
More to come, slowly
