So here’s a little confession… after years of telling you all how important it is to show your face and get those professional photos taken… I’ve never actually done it myself… until now.
Yep, all those photos I’ve posted? Mirror selfies or shots taken by my husband, who’s a mechanic, not a photographer. 😅
But putting myself on the other side of the camera gave me so much more insight into how you might feel when it’s your turn. Here’s what I learned:
1. Getting your photos taken can be REALLY daunting. It can feel super awkward and uncomfortable at first. Trust me, I totally get it now! That nervous energy before stepping in front of the camera is real.
2. It’s nowhere near as bad as you think! Once you get past those initial nerves, and especially when you have an amazing photographer like mine, it’s actually fun. I seriously wish I’d done this sooner!
3. Professionals take WAY better photos than selfies, husband shots, or anything your kids can snap. Just saying.
4. Finding the right photographer is EVERYTHING. Do the research. Find someone whose style you love and who makes you feel at ease. It’s worth it!
Sometimes, the fear of doing something is way bigger in your head than in reality. So, don’t be like me—procrastinating! If you’ve been thinking about doing something, just go for it.
A huge thank you to my incredible friend, mentor, and amazing photographer, , for making me feel totally comfortable and for creating photos I love and that actually feel like me.
